From 2,000-square-foot houses to stately mansions, Olde Providence comprises a mix of architectural styles, including split-level, ranch-style, contemporary and new builds. Prices here range from $473,000 to $3 million. Townhomes are also available in the $700,000 range. Lots also vary from .2 acres to over an acre. "Homes in this area sell very quickly," says Lindsay Patton, Realtor at The Redbud Group, who's been representing the Charlotte area for a year and a half. These stunning residences often receive multiple offers and typically find new owners within a week." Grandfather oak trees line narrow, winding streets with sidewalks.
Schools are a primary draw for families with children considering a move to Olde Providence South, according to Patton. Students may start their education at Olde Providence Elementary, which has an A-minus from Niche. Carmel Middle School received a B-plus grade. Myers Park High School offers advanced placement, International Baccalaureate and honors courses and has an A from Niche.
William R. Davie Park is 107 acres with parking, horseshoe pits, a pond, a basketball court, an indoor and outdoor shelter, a dog park, a volleyball court, soccer fields (lighted), four softball fields (lighted), batting cage, two playgrounds and trails. Olde Providence Park is an active Charlotte athletic facility used by many local leagues for practice and games. The space also has a playground, a soccer field and walking paths. Several country clubs surround the community. Carmel Country Club's rolling fairways extend into the backyards of some Old Providence South homes. With two membership classifications, non-golfers can also enjoy the club's amenities, which include an 18-hole course, tennis courts and a resort-style pool complex.
Residents of Olde Providence South can find a Harris Teeter store, complete with an inside Starbucks, just half a mile away at Colony Place. For unique gifts, The Mole Hole has been a local staple for 44 years, selling jewelry, home decor and unique finds. For more extensive retail and dining options, residents can drive 4 miles to The Arboretum, which features Barnes & Noble, Petco, Michael's and Walmart. Cajun Yard Dog, located at The Arboretum, is known for its Louisiana-style cooking and 35 hot sauce flavors. Other local favorites include Greco Fish Grille, which specializes in Greek cuisine, and The Lodge: A Sportsman's Grill, a popular sports bar that serves classic bar food and drink specials. The eatery also hosts live music, trivia nights and broadcasts sports channels. Olde Providence South is located 4 miles from SouthPark, Charlotte's largest upscale shopping destination, and Ballantyne, a dynamic corporate park and suburban metropolis. "There are several shopping centers nearby in Ballantyne," says Patton.
Easy access to Interstate 485 makes for a direct 10-mile ride to Uptown Charlotte. The area also has a few Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) bus stops. Charlotte Douglas International is a 23-mile drive via I-485.
