Prosperity Church Road

Choosing a home
Many homes follow Colonial Revival and New Traditional designs, with brick and/or vinyl siding, attached garages, bay windows and sometimes front porches. Occasionally, Cape Cod and ranch-style homes will enter the market. Some homes have been standing tall since the 1960s, while other developments only sprung up in the last decade. Most residential streets branch off larger thoroughfares, forming quiet, suburban cul-de-sacs. Streets usually aren’t quite wide enough to accommodate parking on either side, but most homes come with two car driveways. Prices tend to start around $300,000 and seldom rise beyond $550,000. A few pockets of townhouses can be found throughout the neighborhood, usually going for between $250,000 and $300,000.Keeping active in Prosperity Church Road
Clarks Creek Greenway cuts through the heart of the neighborhood, joining with Mallard Creek Greenway to create a 9-mile network of paved trails, which are largely uninterrupted by road crossings. On the northeast side of the neighborhood, Mallard Creek Park can be found, a shady, 310-acre green space offering soccer fields, football fields, baseball diamonds, volleyball courts and playgrounds. The Tradition Golf Club is just to the south, sporting a par 72 course with rolling bermudagrass that makes for a challenging game for golfers of all skill levels.A big neighborhood with a big shopping scene
There are a lot of supermarkets in and around Prosperity Church Road, though where residents choose to shop might depend on their location. There are two Food Lions and a Harris Teeter along West W. T. Harris Boulevard to the south, while just across Interstate 485 in the north, shoppers will find Harris Teeter, Publix and Aldi. For even more shopping, locals can head up Odell School Road and stop by Concord Mills, North Carolina’s largest mall. Stats Restaurant & Bar really will serve patrons cocktails, good food and good times stat. And for their entertainment, the bar is adorned with several flatscreen TVs for watching the game and a stage for live DJs or musical acts on select nights. The Big Apple has some competition when it comes to pizza-by-the-slice, with Due Amici Pizza serving up New York style pies that match what can be found in Manhattan. From Sicilian to chicken parmigiana pizza, customers are sure to find something that will tantalize their tastebuds. And Mr. Tokyo Japanese Restaurant’s popularity can be explained in five words: all you can eat sushi. But residents will recommend getting there early, as the restaurant is consistently packed.Getting educated in Prosperity Church Road
Prosperity Church Road students can attend elementary schools such as David Cox Road Elementary, which scores an overall C on Niche. They can then move up to Ridge Road Middle and Mallard Creek High, which earn a C-plus and a B, respectively. Mallard Creek High students can attend classes in eight career and technical education pathways including sport and event marketing and python programming.Residents usually get around by car
State Highway 24, locally referred to as West W. T. Harris Boulevard, is a major east-west thoroughfare that links residents to various shopping centers and other highways. Just north of the neighborhood is Interstate 485 which encircles Charlotte. Charlotte Area Transit System bus line 59 follows Prosperity Church Road, connecting Bryton Towne Center to J. W. Clay Boulevard near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, running once every hour. But the University is also only a 5-mile drive east for residents on the neighborhood’s southern end. From there, they can hop on the Lynx Blue Line and ride into Uptown.A concert pavilion that strikes a chord
Music fans flock to PNC Music Pavilion, a huge amphitheater that has seen musical acts from Paul McCartney to 50 Cent. “It’s different from other places in Charlotte where you can go and see concerts in that it’s an outside venue,” says Brown-Lawrence. “You have to get there early because the traffic can get bad.”
