Sardis Woods

Homes made in the shade
In shady subdivisions, homes sit on well-maintained green lots, with oaks and maples shadowing them. Mature trees dot gently sloping roads, giving Sardis Woods the secluded, faraway feeling that locals love. “Sardis Woods checks a lot of boxes for both first-time homebuyers and step-up buyers in South Charlotte. The neighborhood, being built in the late 70’s and early 80’s, offers large lots, mature trees, several sidewalk streets and solid-built homes by well-known local Charlotte builder, John Crosland Company,” Callahan says. “There’s a wide variety of home styles and floor plans which are easy to update to current home trends.” Ranch-style properties run in the $350,000 range, while Colonial Revival and split-level homes cost around $450,000. As prices continue to rise into the $500,000 range and beyond, homes feature amenities like pools or three-car garages and are typically built in the New Traditional style. There are also townhome options in the neighborhood, which usually cost around $275,000 for older properties and $450,000 for new construction.10 miles to Downtown Charlotte
“The way Charlotte was originally built in a pinwheel design from Downtown Charlotte makes the commute from Sardis Woods to Downtown Charlotte very accessible,” Callahan says. Proximity to U.S. Interstate 485, U.S. Route 74, North Carolina Highway 16 and other significant thoroughfares cuts commutes. “Having so many different options and major arteries connecting to Downtown allows residents to pick their route based on current traffic and times of day for the commute,” Callahan says. “Sardis Woods is only 10 miles from Downtown, and being within the loop created by Highway 51 and 485 makes it an ideal location for those who regularly work or visit Downtown Charlotte.” CATS system buses allow access to the city via public transit. In case of emergency, Novant Health Medical Center is about 3 miles south. And when it’s time to fly, the Charlotte Douglas International Airport is roughly a 17-mile drive northwest.Wandering through McAlpine Creek Greenway
“McAlpine Creek Greenway offers roughly 4 miles of trails for walkers, runners, cyclists, and hikers to be outdoors and enjoy nature right in Sardis Woods's backyard. McAlpine Creek Greenway also allows Sardis Woods residents to enter McAlpine Creek Park and James Boyce Park directly from the trail system,” Callahan says. After wandering the McAlpine Creek Greenway’s trails, locals can explore various amenities at either park, including fishing from McAlpine Creek Park’s pier or James Boyce Park’s playground.Amenities at Galleria Shopping Center
“The Galleria Village shopping center is a mile away, and residents can walk to local stores, small businesses, grocery stores, a movie theater, coffee shops, and multiple restaurants nearby,” Callahan says. Anchor stores like Walmart, Food Lion and Harris Teeter ensure that grabbing everyday essentials is easy. In the mornings, locals can grab breakfast from Romeo & Juliet, a Brazilian coffee shop with sweet and savory pastry selections. Nearby New Zealand Café is a popular dinner spot, serving cuisine from its namesake country, as well as China and Japan.Public and private schooling
Students are zoned for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and can attend Greenway Park Elementary School and McClintock Middle School, which both receive C-plus scores from Niche. Then, they can finish their public education at East Mecklenburg High School, receiving a B-plus. East Mecklenburg offers an International Baccalaureate (IB) program and over 20 Advanced Placement (AP) classes. There are private options nearby as well. The Fletcher School serves K-12 students with learning disabilities through small class sizes and multisensory instruction. Nearby faith-based options include Charlotte Christian School, which serves prekindergartners to twelfth graders, and Charlotte Jewish Day School, for kindergarteners to eighth graders.
