Sharon Woods is a suburban neighborhood south of Uptown Charlotte and located near SouthPark’s shopping, dining and entertainment. The community consists of older single-family homes nestled among tree-lined streets. Some properties have undergone renovations, while some new builds can cost over $1 million. It is also close to several recreational areas and the Quail Hollow Club, a host site for PGA tournaments.
Homes include ranch styles, split levels, Colonial Revivals, midcentury moderns and New Traditionals. Townhomes are also present. “Homes in [Sharon Woods’] subdivisions are sought after for sure,” says Dillon Forstberg, a listing specialist with Keller Williams SouthPark, who sells in the area. “Homes sell within the first one to two weeks that are listed there; they normally average from $475 to $500 a square [foot].”
Prices for townhomes range from above $100,000 to over $450,000. Single-family homes are between $700,000 and $1.8 million. Forstberg says homeowners' associations are present but offer no additional features. Housing is typically on winding streets or cul-de-sacs with larger-than-average lot sizes. Townhomes and multifamily units are located off Quail Hollow Road and Sharon Road.
“You feel tucked away in the tree-lined streets with the large oaks, but if you step outside the neighborhood, you have all the amenities,” says Heather Montgomery, broker-in-charge at Cottingham Chalk and a local resident. “The neighborhood is well-established, and rather than moving to newer homes, residents are choosing to update their current houses. “I’d say we’ve well exceeded 50% of the neighborhood being fully renovated.”
Public school students can attend Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. The district offers school choice through a lottery system. The highly rated Beverly Woods Elementary is located within the community. “[The] public schools [are] why people like that part of Charlotte because they don’t have to pay for private school,” says Forstberg.
The Charlotte Area Transit System’s #20 buses stop on Sharon Road. Uptown Charlotte is roughly 8 miles away. Atrium Health has an emergency department on Fairview Road, while Atrium Health Pineville is 5 miles away.
The SouthPark shopping center is adjacent to Sharon Woods. It includes high-end retailers and department stores such as Nordstrom and Belk. Whole Foods is located on the corner of Sharon Road and Fairview Road. Harris Teeter is located at the Old Towne Village Center at the intersection of Carmel Road and Quail Hollow Road.
SouthPark also has multiple chain restaurants, while locally owned joints are along Sharon Road and include:
Nearby Park Road Park, featuring courts, trails, baseball diamonds and an 11-acre lake. Symphony Park is an outdoor performance venue that hosts concerts in the Spring and the Charlotte Symphony’s Summer Pops series. The Harris YMCA, next to Sharon Woods, has an indoor fitness center, pool and youth programs. The private Quail Hollow Club is also close and hosts PGA’s Truist Championship.
