New homes close to established, urban conveniences
Silverwood’s name aside, when it comes to providing first-time homebuyers with gorgeous residences at competitive prices, many find this community second to none. The rapid growth of the neighborhood is a testament to the desirability of Charlotte, and thanks to homes’ proximity to Interstate 485 and Albemarle Road, residents will have no problem partaking in the same amenities and leisurely activities that their neighbors closer to the city center can enjoy, such as shopping centers and Reedy Creek Park. “It’s a large neighborhood and definitely expanding. Though it’s newer and on the city’s east end, it still gives residents easy access to Charlotte if you hop on Albemarle Road or Independence Boulevard,” says Wojtek Lachowski, a Realtor with EXP who has been selling properties in the Charlotte area for 7 years. Landon House, a Realtor with Keller Williams and 5 years of experience in the business, agrees. “There's a lot of opportunity here as prices are still low, and it's a really great place to live. You have direct access to Uptown, Plaza Midwood and NoDa,” he says.

New subdivisions made for first-time homeowners
Homes in Silverwood tend to be on the newer side, most being built after 2000. And development is only continuing. “It’s got townhouses and a lot of starter-type homes for first time homebuyers,” Lachowski says, characterizing the neighborhood as a great place for renters to move out to when they’re ready to own some property for themselves. Streets branch off larger thoroughfares, carving a quiet, residential niche out of what used to be farmland. Sidewalks are especially common, inviting residents to meet their neighbors or take pets for walks. Colonial Revival, New Traditional, split level and ranch-style homes tend to sell for between $300,000 and $425,000, though homes with at least 2,000 square feet of space can reach around $500,000. When it comes to townhouses, buyers are looking at a range of between $225,000 to $325,000.

Eating out and shopping in Silverwood
Mr. Charles Chicken and Fish is residents’ go-to spot for hearty soul food, but gizzards and grits isn’t all they’re known for. The establishment features live DJs on weekends, or residents can perform for themselves during the Friday night karaoke. A family-owned restaurant with a rustic, barn-like exterior, Big Al’s Pub and Grubberia has a punny menu, serving up dishes like “Buff-Al-O Fingers” and “It-Al-Ian Salads.” Whatever American dish locals are carving, Big Al’s is bound to please. Shopping options like Target, Lowe’s and Walmart can be found along Albemarle Road. For residents on the northeast corner of the neighborhood, the Food Lion by Interstate 485 might be the most accessible option. More shopping centers such as Farm Pond can be found further down Albemarle Road.

I personally loved this area when we first moved here nine years ago. It was quiet and less populated. Now there are more neighborhoods being built and population is increasing. I like it to be more quiet with less traffic!

The crime in this area is higher than it was in the past. The teenagers are breaking into houses and stealing cars around the neighborhood, along with damaging property. These ongoing activities are starting to make more people in the area feel like they aren't as safe as they should be.

The area that I live in is not as bad as other areas. When I began living here, it was a very quiet and peaceful environment but, now it isn't as peaceful. There are more children in the area and some of them are choosing to partake in criminal activities around the neighborhood, these activities not only affects my neighbors but also affects my family as well. If I could choose to live here again I would but if I could also choose a different area I would do that as well.
