Rural but growing, Christiana is conveniently next to Murfreesboro
The growing community of Christiana, located just south of Murfreesboro in central Tennessee, offers an appealing mix of country charm and modern conveniences. Home to 6,000, this mostly rural area is experiencing residential expansion with several planned developments popping up among the picturesque landscape. The community is home to a pair of top-rated Rutherford County schools, and its proximity to Interstate 24 connects residents to the jobs and attractions of the greater Nashville metropolitan area. “It’s a rural area that’s close to Murfreesboro and all its amenities, with no city property taxes and direct highway access,” says Shawn Wright of Century 21 Wright Realty, who has sold several properties in the community.

New housing is built for those commuting to larger areas nearby
An eclectic mix of homes in a variety of shapes and sizes can be found in various settings throughout the community. “I’ve sold everything from a starter home to a $2.5 million house in Christiana,” Wright says. Ranch-style homes are featured among non-HOA options in small neighborhood settings. Large contemporary homes, which continue to be built, are concentrated in several planned developments. Driveways and attached garages are standard features of these homes that, while larger, are built closer together in modern subdivision settings that offer additional amenities for nominal HOA fees. “All that is workforce housing for people who are commuting into Murfreesboro, Nashville and Franklin,” Wright says. Despite recent development, the community still offers a rural feel. Several homes sit on expansive acreage amid the community’s farmland. Prices typically range from the low 300,000s to around 600,000. Residents will experience hot, humid summers and mild winters. They should be aware that tornadoes are not uncommon in central Tennessee.
