Northeast Claremont is a high-end enclave by the San Gabriel Mountains
Set among the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, Northeast Claremont is a secluded neighborhood known for its luxury homes, excellent views and scenic surroundings. Much of the neighborhood is bordered by Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, which bleeds into Angeles National Forest and is criss-crossed with extensive mixed-use trails. “The scenery and the trails are definitely a major draw,” says real estate advisor and Claremont native Ben Nance of Sotheby’s International. “With a lot of homes in the area, you can step out of your front door and be at the trailhead in less than 10 minutes — nature is a big part of the experience of living there.”
While area homes are almost all large and modern, a wide range of architectural styles can be found in Norheast Claremont, from contemporary two-story Craftsman builds to spacious custom-built estates featuring Mediterranean architecture.

Luxury homes with large yards and great views
Northeast Claremont is home to some of the largest homes in town, many of which offer expansive yards and patios as well as stunning views of both the San Gabriel Mountains and San Gabriel Valley. “There are some really beautiful homes in the area,” says Nance. “It’s definitely one of the more sought-after locations in town. It’s just a pretty place to be.” While area homes are almost all large and modern, a wide range of architectural styles can be found in the neighborhood, from contemporary two-story Craftsman builds to spacious custom-built estates featuring Mediterranean architecture. Backyard pools are common, and many homes back up onto the chaparral. Homes in the neighborhood generally sell for between $2 million and $4 million.The neighborhood has an impressively low CAP Index Crime Score of 1 out of 10, well below the national average of 4\. The gorgeous wilderness surrounding the neighborhood does come with a price, namely fire risk, which affects essentially all homes in Northeast Claremont. Coyotes can also be a concern, particularly for residents with pets.

The neighborhood is bordered to the west and north by the 2,500-acre Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, which is home to dozens of miles of multiuse trails popular with hikers and mountain bikers. The trails run into the San Gabriel Mountains and offer great views and wildlife viewing opportunities. Mount Baldy Road runs through the neighborhood and offers a direct route to its namesake, the highest peak in the San Gabriels. Locals are just 13 miles away from Mt. Baldy Ski Resort, as well as some of the best hiking in Greater LA. Parks within the neighborhood, like Padua Avenue Park and Blaisdell Ranch Preserve, offer outdoor space closer to home.

Nearby supermarkets on Base Line Road
Most Northeast Claremont homes are within a 1-mile drive of the Vons and Whole Foods on Base Line Road, which runs just south of the neighborhood. Claremont's impressive cultural amenities
Claremont has one of the more impressive rosters of cultural attractions in Los Angeles County, which is especially impressive given its population is just under 35,000. Most of this centers around central Claremont, including the various museums, exhibits and performances at the Claremont Colleges, many of which are open to the public. The neighborhood is also close to both the California Botanic Garden and the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology.

Interstate 10 and nearby Ontario International Airport
Padua Avenue and Mills Avenue run through the Northeast Claremont and connect it to the rest of town. State Route 210 passes just south of the neighborhood and turns into Interstate 210 a few miles to the west, as it passes through Azusa. Most residents are a 3- to 4-mile drive from Interstate 10, the main commuter route in the area. It’s a 30-mile drive to both downtown Los Angeles to the west and San Bernardino to the east. It’s over 50 miles to LAX, but Ontario International Airport is just 11 miles away and offers direct connections to nearly 30 locations in the US.
Most Northeast Claremont residents are a 3- to 4-mile drive from Interstate 10, the main commuter route in the area.
