Bordering the Clarks Summit University, Clarks Green is a quiet borough in Lackawanna County. Known for high-ranking schools and proximity to Scranton, Clarks Green has developed into a popular residential community with accessible shops, a scenic landscape and an easy-going atmosphere. “This is a nice, laid-back suburb for country living and it’s not too far from the city,” says Alexander Schwartz, an agent who is an expert in the area at RE/MAX Realty Select. “Many New Yorkers are moving here because they want the big homes with open space, and they want their children to go to a good school district.”

Houses with scenic views

Homes in Clarks Green were predominantly built between the 1950s and the 1970s. Housing styles include Colonial Revival, Cape Cod, contemporary and ranch-style architecture. Trees line alongside the residential streets and create a calming, serene setting. A single-family residence with three or four bedrooms can be priced between $250,000 and $450,000. These homes usually sit on half to 1 acre of land, and the yards are often well-maintained.

A top-ranking school district in Pennsylvania

“Abington Heights has some of the best schools in the whole state, and people are wanting to move here for the schools,” Schwartz says. Young students can attend Waverly School, which has an A Niche score. Other prospective schools include South Abington Elementary School, Abington Heights Middle School and Abington Heights High School, all of which have an A-minus rating. Abington Heights High has a dual enrollment program where students can earn associate degrees and study college-level courses. I moved here with my parents a little over a year ago. We moved to Clarks Green because the public school district is one of the best in Pennsylvania. I love my neighborhood, my school and the town. There are some really great places to hang out and there are very unique shops downtown. Small and quaint.

We have enough, but some more shopping choices for clothes would be nice.

We get all four seasons which is nice, but the winters are icy, and it rains frequently in the summer. Fall is beautiful though.

Depends on where you are. The adults and parents are typically healthy or average. There is a major drug issue i the high school though. It's just party kids whose parents are to busy working so they throw them money an don't pay lose attention to what their kids are doing after sports practice.
