Along the sloping landscapes of the San Francisco Bay Area in Contra Costa County is Clyde. This census-designated place has a strong industrial presence and homes with hillside views. Houses are concentrated into two sections, along Port Chicago Highway and the developments around the southeastern corner, such as Mota Ranch or Bay Pointe.

Most residences were constructed during the 1970s to 1990s, but you can also find a handful of early 21st-century homes. The housing stock includes Craftsman-inspired dwellings with multiple building materials, such as stone and wood siding. There are also contemporary styles made of stucco, and others have boards and exposed decorative beams that give a modern farmhouse look. Residences in Clyde can range from around $475,000 to upward of $900,000. Potential buyers can often find two and three-bedroom townhouses for $475,000 to $575,000. Houses between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet are valued at around $750,000 to $900,000.

The young residents head to schools within the Mount Diablo Unified School District, considered among the top five school systems in the County, according to Niche. The youngest of school-age locals may start the day engaging in the STEM magnet program offered at Sun Terrace Elementary. Middle and high schoolers can benefit from the Intradistrict Transfers initiative, which enables students to transfer from their current school to a different location. Sixth to eighth-grade students may attend the nearby Riverview Middle School, rated a C on Niche. Teens may move on and graduate from Mount Diablo High, rated a B minus on Niche.

Although Clyde is primarily industrial in nature, locals can still access parks and green spaces within the community. To the northwest is the Point Edith Wildlife Area, located along Suisun Bay. This flood-prone area is only accessible by boat and is often used as hunting grounds for ducks and other water birds. Visitors are cautioned to watch out for wildlife inhabitants, such as reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals like raccoons. In the housing section, near Port Chicago Highway, are a handful of pedestrian-friendly parks dotted throughout the area. Big Oak Tree Park and Marie Porter Park are located on Kilburn Street, providing opportunities for a peaceful break during a run or a friendly basketball game. Clyde Park is a slightly larger space with a tennis court and playground. Near this section of the neighborhood is Clyde Community Center. The center is home to the outdoor Clyde Book Stop and the site of the Arts & Crafts Festival. The annual event is hosted by the local nonprofit Clyde Artist Network, created out of a need for connection and artistic expression during the pandemic.

Locals will have to venture outside Clyde to shop for groceries, but there are a few dining options when you prefer to dine in or take out. Rob's Zombies is a local favorite serving warm rolls stuffed with tasty fillings. Kinder's Meats Deli is frequently visited for sandwiches, salads and smokey barbecue. If you're looking for simple counter service during breakfast or lunch, try North Park Deli. The local brewery, Epidemic Ales, sometimes has food trucks parked on location, and the establishment is considered both child and dog-friendly. The area is just 5 miles from Concord's Todos Santos Plaza, where more dining options and retail await.

Diablo Creek Golf Course is a local recreational staple to practice your swing on the driving range or tee off on the 18-hole course. Clyde is next to Highway 4, leading locals to surrounding communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Locals may also travel a few miles south to the BART North Concord / Martinez Station to commute around the region.
