Right next to John Glenn Columbus International Airport and 7.5 miles from downtown Columbus, Cumberland Ridge is all about accessibility. I-670 runs through the neighborhood, so residents can easily get downtown or connect to shopping and commercial centers. With Gahanna just to the east, locals are never far from great restaurants and amenities. “Columbus, in general, is a big commuter area because it's so easy to get around,” says Thomas Hamrick, a Realtor with Keller Williams Consultants Realty and longtime Columbus resident. “It’s not the kind of city where you live there your whole life and never see the other side of the city.” With all the major roads and transportation options in Cumberland Ridge, commuters are more than welcome.

Cumberland Ridge's industrial feel

John Glenn Columbus International Airport sits at Cumberland Ridge’s southern border, only 1.5 miles from the neighborhood. I-670 divides the neighborhood in half and connects residents to downtown Columbus. “Over by I-670, it’s so industrial because of the airport,” Hamrick says. “There’s lots of warehouses. Lots of developers have come in, especially around Stelzer Road.” Public buses run along the borders of the neighborhood. The number 7 bus is available on Agler Road and Cassady Avenue, while the number 23 bus stops on Stelzer Road.

Craftsman subdivisions in Cumberland Ridge

Cumberland Ridge offers a diverse selection of housing styles. In the Woods At Cumberland subdivision, Craftsman homes built around 2002 are common. Outside of the neighborhood, potential buyers can find brick and siding bilevels and ranches dating back to the 70s. Mature trees sit in front yards with lots ranging from 5,000 to 7,000 square feet. Most homes have two-car garages so that residents can leave the wide streets open. The median house price in Cumberland Ridge is around $225,000, but homes in the Woods At Cumberland subdivision might list closer to $300,000. On the lower end, some ranch homes can list for around $165,000.

Italian and BBQ in Gahanna

Cumberland Ridge’s proximity to Gahanna means residents can just hop over I-270 to access great places to dine out. Lola and Giuseppe’s Trattoria offers traditional Italian favorites with sauces made in house. Their bakery serves biscotti, cannoli, tiramisu and other Italian treats. Barrel and Boar is a barbeque gastropub that brings southern classics like chicken and waffles to Ohio. Hickory House has been serving the best steaks in the area since 1979, making it a Gahanna staple. For groceries, Easton Town Center is only 3.6 miles away. Here, residents can find all the essential stops, from Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods Market to Costco, Walmart and Target.

Over in Gahanna, Cumberland Ridge residents can attend the Creekside Blues and Jazz Festival for live summer music that has been entertaining locals for almost 25 years. The Ohio State Fair brings rides, performances and great food to the Ohio State Fairgrounds each year. In downtown Columbus, the Columbus Arts Festival showcases more than 200 artists and live performances each summer along the banks of the Scioto River.

Hockey-themed playgrounds near Cumberland Ridge

Cumberland Ridge’s centralized location and access to major motorways means residents can get active at a number of parks in northeast Columbus. Krumm Park is over 37 acres with a pond that is regularly stocked with fish. The playground theme is based on the city’s hockey team, the Columbus Blue Jackets. Equipment supports look like hockey sticks, and there’s a climbing wall that looks like an ice rink. The park is also home to the Williams H. Adams Community Center. At Mock Park, locals can use the basketball courts inside the Willis Athletics Complex or explore 24 acres of woodlands with a playground and walking loop.

Take AP classes at Mifflin High

Cumberland Ridge students can attend Cassady Elementary School in the Columbus City Schools district for kindergarten through fifth grade before graduating to Mifflin Middle School for sixth through eighth grades. Mifflin High School allows students to earn potential college credit through their Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and its Career Tech program teaches students skills they'll need to work in business offices, call centers and customer support. All three schools earn a C-minus from Niche.
