Homes on the outskirts of Gahanna
“There aren’t many residential areas too close to Town Center,” Hamrick says. “But if you travel a bit farther down Stelzer or Morse Road, you’ll find plenty of homes on the outskirts of Columbus and Gahanna.” Midcentury modern ranch-style homes, split levels and custom builds with new traditional Tudor-style architecture range in price from $250,000 to $400,000. Residential roads like Oak Springs Street and Patriot Boulevard feature old-growth trees and spacious front lawns, seemingly miles away from the otherwise bustling hum of Easton Town Center. The neighborhood’s upscale apartments, however, are just across Easton Way in the heart of the district.Sandwiched between two creeks
Easton Oval Park offers a break from the neighborhood’s busy shopping center and commercial offices. The pocket park is a landscaped green space with walking paths and benches. Innis Park, however, is home to the Alum Creek Trailhead, athletic fields and wildlife areas. The grounds’ 99 acres include the entire Champions Golf Course, considered one of Ohio’s most challenging public courses. To the east, Big Walnut Creek is surrounded by parks, though the closest is Woodside Green. There, unique sculptures and artwork complement eclectic playground equipment, athletic amenities and Big Walnut Creek Trail access.Schools in Mifflin Township
Students near Easton are zoned for Columbus City Schools, specifically those in the Mifflin Township. Both Innis Elementary School and Mifflin Middle School receive a C-minus from Niche, located within 2 miles of one another. Also receiving a C-minus from Niche, Mifflin High School is located just south of the shopping center, off Oak Spring Street. Uniforms are required for the less than a thousand students in attendance, while programs like English as a Second Language (ESL) and College Credit Plus (CCP) are encouraged.Gahanna’s Creekside District
About 4 miles from Easton, Gahanna plays host to the annual Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival. The Creekside District itself embodies Gahanna’s reputation as the Herb capital of Ohio, featuring the Ohio Herb Center and an arboretum with waterfalls, walkways and water recreation on Big Walnut Creek. The district’s wide array of restaurants and boutiques attract loads of visitors, though the Blues & Jazz Festival stands out as a three-day cultural celebration in June with local artisans and vendors. The Gahanna Farmer’s Market also takes place in Creekside every Wednesday from May to September.
Reaching Downtown Columbus
Bordered by Interstate 270, residents in Easton can rely on the bustling thoroughfare to reach Downtown Columbus, about 10 miles south. John Glenn Columbus International Airport is on the way, 5 miles down the road where I-270 meets I-670. The city’s COTA bus system offers stops along the interstate, as well as along Morse Road, state Route 161 and Cleveland Avenue. Additionally, state Route 3, Westerville Road, is just west of Easton, heading into Downtown Columbus. Morse Road and Stelzer Road are also reliable thoroughfares, the former in Minerva Park and the latter extending to Gahanna.Easton Town Center
Divided between Minerva Park and Gahanna, Easton is actually known more for its premier shopping than its nearby residences. Easton Town Center is a 1,300-acre mixed-use shopping center. The layout features more than 200 shops, restaurants and entertainment options, including a 30-screen movie theatre and a comedy club. “It’s our largest mall, and they’ve been building it up for a while,” explains Hamrick. “It’s all walkable, outdoor shops. There’s even a new district with luxury brands surrounding a fountain with a Christmas tree every year. There’s always a lot going on.” The center’s grocery stores include Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods Market and Costco Wholesale. Overall, the pedestrian-friendly complex draws millions of visitors every year.
