On average, prices fall in the low $300,000s, lower than the Columbus average, which tends toward the high $300,000s. "The affordability of this neighborhood is a big attraction," Bainbridge says. "This neighborhood provides the perfect opportunity for a first-time homebuyer."One of the country's biggest rose gardens
"There aren't many parks in the area," says Casteel. "So everyone in the neighborhood tends to go to Whetstone." At 149 acres, Whetstone Park is one of Columbus's most extensive public parks. Soccer fields and baseball diamonds stay busy during youth league seasons, and anglers fish the fully-stocked ponds. The Olentangy Trail follows its namesake river for 14 miles, taking hikers as far south as downtown Columbus. With thousands of roses and other plants, the Columbus Park of Roses is one of the country's largest rose gardens and attracts many for its regular live performances and events.Business classes at Mifflin High
Students in the area will begin at Maize Elementary School, located within walking distance for many residents on the community's east side on Maize Road. The school feeds into Medina Middle School and Mifflin High School, which recently added business classes to its curriculum. All three schools receive C-minus grades from Niche. The Ohio State University is ranked Ohio's top public university by U.S. News and World Report and is 6 miles to the south.New flavors at Taste of Clintonville
The Summer Concert Series in the Park of Roses has free concerts and performances every Sunday in the summer. Neighboring Clintonville holds the Taste of Clintonville every fall, showing off its many styles of food with samples from local restaurants.Easy access to public transit
Running along the neighborhood's western edge, I-71 provides a straightforward route to downtown Columbus and the university. Maize Road borders the neighborhood's eastern side and is home to several houses of worship. Throughout the neighborhood, sidewalks are uncommon, making for low walkability, but pedestrians can take advantage of the Central Ohio Transit Authority, which has bus stops on Morse and Maize roads. OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital is about 15 miles to the west and John Glenn Columbus International Airport is about 12 miles to the southeast.Brunch at George's Beechwold Diner
George's Beechwold Diner is a family-owned restaurant with open seating and a greasy-spoon atmosphere. Breakfast is always on the menu, but locals say you don't expect dinner because the doors close at 3 p.m. Namaste opened in 2013 and serves Indian and Nepali cuisine in what the owners call a "casual fine dining" atmosphere. Morse Road has a collection of shopping and retail options, including Save A Lot, Rose's Discount and the International Mall.
