Misty Meadows
Suburban Neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio
Franklin County 43235
Established split-level and ranch-homes on sidewalk-lined streets
Misty Meadows is full of established split-level and ranch-style homes developed in the 1970s and ‘80s with brick and vinyl facades and attached two-car garages. The three- to four-bedroom homes range from $315,000 to $408,000. “The property values have shot up. The value you get for your property is one of the main appeals of the neighborhood,” says Berg. Large mature trees and small gardens enhance modest front yards. Neighbors pass each other on bike rides or strolls along the community’s sidewalks, which connect them to nearby amenities. “The great part about Misty Meadows is that you’re so close to everything, but once you get inside the neighborhood and get to know the people, it feels exclusive, and it’s a great place to live,” Berg adds.Community rallies for outdoor recreation
A sprawling green space that used to be a sheep farm belonging to The Ohio State University, now known as West Case Park, spans 58 acres throughout Misty Meadows. There is a 1.25-mile-long mowed walking loop where locals can watch as small planes land or take off from The Ohio State University Airport just north of the neighborhood. There are plans to build athletic fields and a branch of the Columbus Public Library on the site. Other community sites that have seen revitalization over the years include The Carriage Place Community Center. The site once encompassed a grocery store and is now a hub for art and ceramic classes and locals burning a sweat in the weight room. Outside the community center, there’s also Carriage Place Park, which features a playground. “Misty Meadows residents rallied to have the park as the outdoor aspect of the community center,” Berg says. “That’s a big deal to have that there. The community center also has an active pickleball league.”Live in Columbus ZIP code, attend Dublin Public Schools
Public school students have a Columbus ZIP code but are zoned for Dublin Public Schools. They filter through Daniel Wright Elementary, Ann Simpson Davis Middle and Dublin Scioto High schools. The elementary and high schools have A ratings from Niche, while the middle school has an A-minus. Dublin Scioto High School also offers its students an International Baccalaureate program.Within 15 miles of downtown Columbus
While the neighborhood is walkable and has all the amenities one might need, Sawmill and Bethel roads link locals to the Central Ohio Transit Authority, or COTA, bus system. Misty Meadows is also within 3.5 miles of the riverfront parks, dining and shopping in Dublin. For medical services at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital or to walk through The Ohio State University’s campus, locals can avoid major highways and travel 6 miles south along Kenny and West Henderson roads. Reaching downtown Columbus will require a longer commute, roughly 14 miles, along Ohio State Route 315. Locals looking to take a vacation out of the state, or even the country, can take Interstate 670 for about 18 miles to John Glenn Columbus International Airport.Eclectic eateries and established local businesses
Along Bethel Road is a small shopping complex that, over time, has attracted many local businesses. “Half Price Books is an awesome place to spend a rainy afternoon looking through books,” says Berg. “You could buy a book for two bucks there,” Berg says. Tropical Trends, which sells clothes, jewelry, and home décor, has been in business in that location for more than 30 years. Hiro Ramen and Tea on Sawmill Road gives locals a unique dining experience where they can order food after scanning a QR code, and a robot delivers the food to their table. The Crepe Stop is the go-to spot for dessert. Friends get together to share a plate of the flaky treat and ice cream or smoothies. The Walmart Supercenter housed in the shopping center gives residents quick access to groceries and other everyday essentials.
