Northgate

Split-levels and ranch homes along curvy, tree-lined streets
Northgate features a multitude of houses built in the 1960s and ‘70s. “The houses have a lot of character and provide a good quality of life for anybody, including families,” says Andrew Balalovski, a principal broker with Balalovski Real Estate. A stroll through the curvy, tree-lined streets reveals ranch and split-level homes with attached garages. The houses sit on spacious lots reaching nearly a quarter-acre. Many of the backyards are fenced in, creating a sense of seclusion, and have features like sheds, trampolines, and small play spaces for kids. “They’re typically selling for $300,000 to $350,000, and prices have climbed to that point in the last year or two,” says Hamrick. There are a few condos in shotgun-style structures throughout the neighborhood, but Hamrick says those are few and far between. The multifamily homes are priced between $210,000 and $250,000.Restaurants specializing in international cuisine

Polaris Towne Center is less than 5 miles north of the neighborhood and is home to more than 100 shops, including Target, Macy’s, J.Crew Factory and IKEA. The sprawling center is also home to Topgolf, Star Lanes bowling alley, several fitness centers and a movie theater. A flurry of commercial activity can also be found along Cleveland Avenue and East Dublin Granville Road, with several casual dining spots and restaurants specializing in international cuisine. Tasty Tacos is an authentic, family-owned eatery serving up traditional Mexican fare. Gyros, shish kabobs and lemon chicken soup are standout dishes at Yanni Greek, where the walls are lined with murals of the scenic seaside country.Plans in the works to rebuild Columbus City Schools
Several Columbus City Schools sit within Northgate, including Alpine Elementary, Northgate Intermediate and Beechcroft High. The city has proposed a nearly $300 million multiyear project to build new school buildings on the sites of current campuses, including Beechcroft High School.Community pocket parks within walking distance
Just a quick walk from the majority of homes in Northgate, its namesake park earns daily visits from many residents. A small creek winds through the five-acre community green space where locals can play a game of pickup on the basketball courts, take a quick walk along paved pathways or take their kids to run around the playground. Beechcroft Park sits at the neighborhood's southern end and also features a walking loop and playground. On the other side of I-270, Sharon Woods is a sprawling outdoor oasis with massive oak, hickory and beech trees surrounding walking trails. The peaceful woodlands are full of wildlife and have a lake at their center where locals can cast their line to catch fish.Proximity to I-270 allows access Columbus amenities
