Oriole Heights is just northeast of Downtown Columbus
While the big birds land just east at John Glenn Columbus International Airport, you could land your next home in the nest of Oriole Heights, located northeast of downtown Columbus. There’s plenty of mid to late-century charm close to a university.
Homes are typically midcentury split-levels and ranch-style
The homes date back to the 1960s, and some have gone through or are going through a renovation process. “The neighborhood is up and coming,” says Matthew Seward, a Realtor with Keller Williams Capital Partners. “Habitat for Humanity has come in and renovated existing homes, torn some down, and started from scratch.” The City of Columbus has targeted the area for revitalization. The price range of homes in Oriole Heights is from $180,000 to $270,000. The standard houses are two-story, ranch-style and split-level homes with three bedrooms and one-and-a-half bathrooms. The homes usually have a detached two-car garage and at least a partial basement. “Oriole Heights attracts first-time homebuyers and people who want to be close to those attending Ohio Dominican University,” he says. Oriole Heights is on the doorstep of the over-100-year-old Roman-Catholic school founded in 1911 as an all-women’s college and became co-ed in the 1960s. The school currently has 1700 students and competes in Division II athletics. The football field is on campus, not far from the homes in Oriole Heights.

The produce is available for eligible families. Alongside the community center is a playground, and behind the facility are tennis courts and a basketball court. Beyond that, a large amount of green space can be used for soccer and football games.
Good Kitchen 614 serves soul food and feeds the community
At the corner of Holt Avenue and Sunbury Road, you’ll find Good Kitchen 614. There, you’ll find soul food served with a heart.
