Trips to the mall and neighborhood food trucks
When locals feel the urge to shop or need to run a quick errand, they have options. The Mall at Tuttle Crossing is on the west side of Shannon Heights, which – in addition to its traditional department stores – is also home to Scene75 Entertainment Center. This indoor amusement park keeps kids of all ages busy with rides, arcade games and go-karts. For groceries and essentials, Walmart is just across the interstate. On a smaller scale, Karric Square Shopping Center has clothing stores, salons, clinics and neighborhood bars. Nearby at The Rail, folks can enjoy burgers and steaks that are 100% sourced from local farms, and the beer and cocktails come from Ohio breweries and distilleries. Also located at the shopping plaza is Aangan India Bistro, a staple for authentic Indian cuisine. The food choices in Shannon Heights are not just brick and mortar – some are on four wheels. The Shannon Heights Civic Association organizes regular food trucks that park at the corner of Shannon Heights Boulevard and O'Shannon Road, offering a wide selection including Maine lobster. "Sometimes the food trucks come by twice a week," Warner says.Condos and ranch homes with garages
The residential part of Shannon Heights is made up of clusters of houses branching off from Frantz Road, the main thoroughfare through the neighborhood. Sidewalks shaded by trees line the streets, where homes built in the late 1980s typically boast driveways and attached garages. These 1,500- to 2,500-square-foot ranch-style and Split level dwellings, some with wide front porches and decorative brick accents, typically cost between $350,000 and $550,000. There are also many 1,000- to 1,500-square-foot condo units that can range from $250,000 to $300,000. But because of the area’s relative affordability, properties don’t last long on the market.Shannon Heights Civic Association events
In addition to the neighborhood food trucks, The Shannon Heights Civic Association organizes events for residents to get to know each other, including a community garage sale in June, a National Night Out in August and holiday events throughout the year. “They do Easter Egg Hunts, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and Halloween parades," Warner says. The association also partners with the Dublin Food Pantry, where residents can drop off donations for community members in need.Views of Hayden Run Falls
Living near Scioto River has its perks, which Shannon Heights residents can admire at Hayden Run Falls Park. At this east-side park, a scenic boardwalk trail in the woods leads to a charming 30-foot waterfall. “There’s also Llewellyn Farms Park off Tuttle Road with tennis courts, fields and playgrounds,” Warner says.
Driving to Columbus on I-270
Residents can easily hop onto Interstate 270 and drive south for about 15 miles to land in the heart of downtown Columbus. There are also several COTA bus stops along Frantz Road. Shannon Heights’ crime score is a 4 out of a possible 10. This is on par with the national average crime score.A-rated Dublin City Schools
