Rural and outdoor living in Corinth

Corinth is a small community in Orange County, Vermont, with a population of about 1,500 people. The town is framed by a peaceful atmosphere and rural landscape, offering many hiking and skiing opportunities. The area is served by Unified School District No. 36, and high school students may attend schools of their choice. Accessible via several state routes, Corinth is also close to Bradford, which has a bigger selection of shops and restaurants. “It’s a rural Vermont town that has lots of farms and open space,” says Darren Sherburne, who is a Realtor at Four Seasons Sotheby's International Realty with 5 years of experience. “Lots of people work outside the area, and they move here because there’s less interference and less zoning code enforcement.”

Smaller cabins and cottages typically fall between $100,000 and $240,000, while larger Cape Cods and Farmhouses can go from $300,000 to $600,000. Houses were built from the 1800s to the 2000s, and many have expansive views of the mountains. Typical of a rural farming town, land parcels stretch from one acre to over 40 acres, and often have private barns, stables and farms.

The town is currently served by Unified School District No. 36 in Orange County. Waits River Valley School serves students in grades K-8 and has a C-plus grade from Niche. Since the school system does not have a designated high school, students may choose to attend a school of their choice from one of the area high schools. Prospective schools include the public, A-plus Hanover High School, which is ranked by Niche as the No. 1 best public high school in New Hampshire, and the private Thetford Academy, which is known for its reputable arts programs and has a B rating.

Located in West Corinth, the family-run Crossmolina Farm offers organic produce and pastured meat, and has pizza night with live music every Saturday in the summer. The organic farm also opened a produce market by the Corinth Post Office, Cookeville Market, featuring grocery staples, seasonal produce, meat and dairy, as well as products from over 30 local vendors. The farm stand also serves breakfast and lunch sandwiches Wednesday through Saturday. People can also do a quick stop by East Corinth General Store to get pizza, snacks or gas. Hannaford and Dollar General are in the nearby town of Bradford, which is about 10 miles southeast. “You can do pretty much anything here besides Doordash, we don’t have that yet,” Sherburne says. “There’s a movie theater in East Corinth, there are local events like the summer concert series, but food-wise most people go to the neighbor town of Bradford “
