Suburban convenience close to Golden Isles beaches and Brunswick
The Glynn County suburb of Country Club Estates, just north of Brunswick, is popular for its lower home prices. "You're going to get a lot more house for your money," says Zaida Clay Harris, an associate broker and managing partner at Signature Properties Group. Harris, who has sold homes in the area for more than 20 years, says this community often attracts younger folks "just starting out and buying their first home." A quick drive to four of Georgia’s barrier islands, commercial corridors and historic downtown Brunswick add convenience to its appeal.

Traditional or ranch-style homes built in the 1960s and 1970s are common, and many have been recently renovated. Early 2000s Colonial Revival and New Traditional homes are also available, as are townhouse-style condos overlooking the Mackay River. The median sales price is just over $255,000, below the national median of about $365,000. Homes typically sell in under a month, faster than the national average of 45 days.

Recreation options between Brunswick Country Club and downtown
Brunswick Country Club is a century-old private club at the north end of the community with an original Donald Ross-designed golf course. A few blocks away, Altama/Fairway Park features a playground and ball field. Golden Isles YMCA and Planet Fitness are membership-based fitness centers a few minutes west. In downtown Brunswick, Mary Ross Waterfront Park’s playground and walking path overlook the East River. Brunswick’s twice-monthly farmer’s market is held there. So is the annual Blessing of the Fleet, a historic Portuguese tradition celebrating the start of shrimping season. The sandy beaches, marshland and Spanish moss-covered forests of Georgia’s Golden Isles are a quick 30-minute drive east.

Nearby, Glynn Place Mall features more than 30 businesses, including a movie theater. The surrounding commercial corridors along Golden Isles Parkway and Cypress Mill Road are home to big-box retailers and national chain restaurants. Brunswick’s historic downtown is the center of the local small business scene. The walkable riverfront district also hosts regular events, like monthly First Fridays, when Newcastle Street closes to cars in favor of vendors and live music. “It’s really popular. Everybody goes down there and hangs out,” Harris says.

U.S. Route 17 and Brunswick Golden Isles Airport nearby
Route 17 divides Country Club Estates in two, heading south into Brunswick and north toward the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport. While mainly used for general aviation, the small airfield also has direct flights to and from Atlanta. Interstate 95, accessible in Dock Junction, runs to Jacksonville and Savannah. Both bigger cities are about an hour away, depending on traffic, a perk unique to this part of Glynn County. "You can see Broadway shows in Jacksonville, and Savannah is a great place to spend the day because it's so historic," Harris says.
Weather and crime
Country Club Estates is at risk of hurricanes. The Mackay and Back rivers, and the creeks branching from them, often flood during hurricanes, nor’easters and other heavy rainfalls. The chance of flooding is especially high in the Belle Pointe subdivision, east of Route 17. Evacuation routes and other resources are on the Glynn County website. Crime statistics for Country Club Estates are not readily available.
