Credit River's incorporation as a city does not sacrifice rural charm
Credit River was established in 1858, the same year that Minnesota gained statehood. This community uniquely considers itself among the newest cities in the "Land of the Lakes," however. “It just became a city in 2021. Prior to that, it was a township,” says Chris Rooney, real estate broker with Re/Max. “There’s been lots of new construction since then, and I’d anticipate an even bigger boom once they get the city water and sewer projects completed.” Although some may worry that the area’s rural atmosphere will disappear as the city grows, residents have reason for optimism. “I don’t think the expansion is going to drastically change the feel of Credit River,” Rooney continues. “There’s lots of farmland where development can happen without affecting the current lot sizes, and more varied home styles will allow people to stay well into retirement.”
Credit River real estate market balances rural character with urban growth, offering everything from affordable smaller lots to luxury acreage properties in Minnesota's newest city.
Credit River housing market will expand with Modern Traditional homes reaching $1 million to $3 million on large acreage, while smaller lots become more common with development.

Credit River offers a variety of home styles and lot sizes
There is a wide variety of home styles in Credit River and more will be added as development plans are implemented. Ranch-style homes built in the 1970s and Colonial Revivals from the 1990s often sit on wooded lots that can range in size from a half-acre to over 10. “It’s always been a community that people turn to when they want acreage,” Rooney says. “As the new construction advances, smaller lots will certainly become more common, but there are also some large-acreage Modern Traditional homes being built that will reach prices between $1 million and $3 million.” Older houses and those on smaller lots tend to cost between $310,000 and $985,000, depending on square footage, number of bedrooms, lot size and lake access.
Credit River housing development plans promise diverse options while preserving acreage appeal, where new construction advances alongside established wooded properties and lake access homes.
The Credit River area offers older homes and smaller lots priced $310,000 to $985,000 based on square footage, bedrooms, lot size, and lake access in this developing community.

Credit River residents have access to nearby golf courses
Golf is a popular pastime within Credit River, as there are four 18-hole courses either immediately within or adjacent to the community. “Legends Golf Club is the main one, but there’s also Heritage Links, Cleary Lake and Brackett’s Crossing all nearby,” Rooney says. “Cleary Lake Regional Park is also pretty popular. They have a dog park and a public fishing pier, and you can take paddleboards or kayaks out on the water.” The Minneapolis Gun Club, which features a skeet and trap shooting range, is also based in the area.
The Legends Golf Course offers challenging play with scenic fairways and well-maintained greens, providing golfers an excellent recreational experience in a beautiful natural setting.
Cleary Lake Golf Course combines affordable green fees with quality course conditions, where golfers enjoy lakeside views and tree-lined fairways in a peaceful environment.

Groceries, retailers and local restaurants are minutes away
There is no commercial footprint directly within the community, but the area is flanked by a pair of shopping destinations. “The Lunds and Byerlys in Prior Lake and the Aldi in Lakeville are going to be the closet options for groceries, and there’s a Walmart and a Target in Lakeville, as well,” Rooney explains. “Both of those areas are within a 10-minute drive of Credit River, depending on where in Credit River you are.” Local restaurants are also concentrated in these two nearby towns. Ze’s Diner in Prior Lake serves classic American diner fare, and Gary's Supper Club in Lakeville is known for its classic American dishes, beers & mixed drinks.
Lunds and Byerly's in nearby Prior Lake provides Credit River residents easy access to fresh produce and household essentials.
Target is another big box retailer popular with Lakeville residents.

Interstate 35 West is the main commuter artery of Credit River
Public transportation is not readily available in Credit River. Residents will likely rely on the nearby interstate when commuting. “Interstate 35 West is the main way to get to the Twin Cities,” Rooney says. “The area is actually very big for relocation because of how close it is to the freeway.” I-35 West is the quickest way to get downtown, while I-35 East provides access to the nearest medical center and to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Regional Airport.
