Capturing a small-town feel just minutes from city amenities, Creswell brings in buyers seeking a quiet lifestyle and an easy commute into Downtown Eugene. “Even though we’re small, we make the most of what we have and foster a strong sense of community. I love what we’ve done here and what we’re able to accomplish,” says Lindsay Quigley-Johnson, a resident since 2010 who works in the Creswell Library. “It can feel a little isolated at times which is a downfall but also a really cool thing because we have groups and services that see we have a lack of entertainment so they host events to fill the gaps.”

Community comes together to save Thai cuisine
With a single grocery store and half a dozen restaurants, Creswell locals will have to head into Downtown Eugene if they’re seeking more retail variety. But the local options are also very popular and a staple in the neighborhood. “We’ve got an incredible sense of community when it comes to supporting small business and restaurants,” Quigley-Johnson says. “There was a horrible car crash once and one of our restaurants, DAK Thai Cuisine, was essentially destroyed and had to close down for a while. People in the community actually raised money until we had enough to renovate and reopen the restaurant.” Farmlands Market is a local independent grocery store and deli that serves cold sandwiches and actively spearheads local food drive efforts. The Creswell Bakery is led by a classically trained chef who dishes out from-scratch breads, cinnamon rolls and salad dressings made from local ingredients.

History museum, golf club and local events
Locals enjoy amenities like the public library and the Creswell Historical Museum, which first opened in 1975 and sits in a former church built in 1889. The museum displays capture the evolution of the area from the early pioneers through today with photographs and guided tours. The Emerald Valley Golf Club is known for its dry course, which makes year-round play much more possible. Additional amenities include an indoor event center and an outdoor gazebo that overlooks the course. The Hangar sits next to the small local airport and as the name suggests, was originally supposed to be an airplane hangar. Half finished, it was purchased by a local couple who converted the structure into an event venue that regularly hosts concerts, weddings and other community events. Additional events are often put on by City Hall that include everything from movie festivals to art weeks.
