Cut and Shoot’s name traces back to a 1912 neighborhood feud
In 1912, a frightened eight-year-old Montgomery County, Texas boy exclaimed that he was going to "cut around the corner and shoot through the bushes in a minute" to escape the heated conflict happening among his neighbors over the use of the community building. He had no idea that the words he uttered would one day become the official name of his town. Today, Cut and Shoot, a small city 40 miles north of Houston, may top many an unusual town names list, but its easy country lifestyle with attractively priced homes and nearby conveniences is this community's true claim to fame. "Cut and Shoot is a happy medium for someone who wants country living but doesn't want to be too far from amenities," says Realtor Stephony Garrett, The Home Sync Team lead with eXp Realty. "I had a couple who were looking for a home but wanted different things. He wanted to be somewhat secluded without neighbors too close, but she didn't want to travel far distances to run errands or go shopping. Cut and Shoot was the perfect happy medium for them."
