North Park Hill offers easy access to Denver's largest park
With the heart of Denver just minutes to the west, North Park Hill serves as a community in and of itself with the sprawling grounds of City Park right on its border. City Park is the largest green space in Denver, lying just off the southwestern corner of North Park Hill. Both the Denver Zoo and Denver Museum of Nature and Science are located within its grounds, as are both Ferril Lake and Duck Lake along with a boathouse. Right alongside is the City Park Golf Course to the north, where you can take to the links for 18 holes. “The main thing about Park Hill is its walkability,” says Leo Rowen, broker associate and co-owner of RE/MAX of Cherry Creek. “You’ve got the walkability to the City Park Golf Course, the park itself with the fountains and the zoo. So there’s proximity – you can get on your bike and be right there within seconds. Being outside is a big deal, so people are actually willing to sacrifice size if it’s closer to open space.”
Meanwhile, Fred Thomas Park is on the southeast corner with offerings of its own, including fields for soccer, football, baseball and softball, along with courts for basketball, tennis and beach volleyball. Recreational visitors can also wander trails on foot or by bike and eat at the picnic tables or barbecue areas.
