District Heights is a close-knit suburb of Washington
Just 11 miles east of the nation’s capital sits District Heights, Maryland, a neighborhood built on community ties with the conveniences of a suburb. “I was born and raised right near District Heights,” said Althea Hearst of Bennett Realty Solutions. “There is a lot of family in District Heights. There is a lot of community in District Heights.” Hearst goes on to mention the multitude of community events from neighborhood field days to Santa truck drops during Christmas time. While new residents are entering the area, many of the homeowners in District Heights have been there for decades.

Ranch-style homes and townhouses line walkable streets
The community is close and so are the homes with properties on adjacent lots. The streets don’t feature many sidewalks, but neighbors can let pets run free in the fenced-in lawns. There is plenty of shade from the summer sun as large trees are in most lots and the annual rainfall keeps the neighborhood green and lush. A median single-family home runs about $360,000. “It’s about 50/50 between single-family ranch-style homes and townhouses”, said Hearst. “You are looking at street parking for the most part. If you are lucky, you may find a driveway, but most of the homes do have yards.” Brick homes line the streets with hipped roof ranches, many featuring a basement.
