Private docks and Point Place condos
Many homes in the Dover Point community were built in the 21st century. Contemporary Cape Cods, New Englander-style homes and condos are the most common options. One of the area's newer communities, Point Place, is home to apartments, condos and assisted living facilities that are close to local businesses. More modest Cape Cods and condos can cost between $200,000 and $700,000, while larger homes closer to the water often run from $700,000 to $1.4 million.Green and blue views at Hilton Park
Hilton Park is the primary green space for those who live in the Dover Point Area. Situated where the Piscataqua River meets the Great Bay, the park offers places to relax and a playset in the same spot where Edward Hilton, the father of New Hampshire, first landed back in 1623. “You can always see a ton of family gatherings there as well as people making use of the public boat launch,” Parks says. After school activities for Dover Public Schools
Students can start their education at Garrison Elementary School before moving on to Dover Middle School, both of which are rated as the #3 elementary and middle schools in the state by Niche. Students can then head to Dover Senior High School, known for numerous clubs, including its FIRST Robotics Competition. All schools receive a B rating on Niche.Hilton Park events and Apple Harvest Day
The Hilton Park Summer Celebration is a popular event in early October, where families bring picnics and enjoy games and live music. Downtown Dover events include Apple Harvest Day in October, a nearly 40-year tradition attended by roughly 60,000 people that celebrates the harvest season with food and craft vendors, an apple pie eating contest and live music.Major Dover highways and turnpikes
Dover Point Road is the community's major road for day-to-day transportation, providing access to downtown Dover and other roads like Spaulding Turnpike and U.S. Route 4. These major highways are mainly used for commutes to neighboring cities like Portsmouth or Rochester. “The area is mostly car friendly except for the Point Place development, where you can walk to the local businesses.” Portsmouth International Airport is about 7 miles away, and the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is 6 miles away.Dining along Dover Point Road
Dover Point Road is home to most of the community's retail options and is the fastest route to downtown Dover. Right in the center of the community, residents can grab some Italian cuisine at Patty B's Italian Restaurant, which Parks says is well known for making their own homemade desserts daily. Classic seafood dishes are served at Newick's Lobster House. Hannaford is nearby, as well as Tendercrop Farm, a store full of locally sourced produce.
