From historic to contemporary designs, housing varies widely
Despite a love of history and classic architecture, Dublin keeps up with the times, with the majority of its homes built in the 1990s and onward. “They’re still building in Dublin!” says Jennifer Scarlett Lee, Realtor with Keller Williams Consultants Realty. “You’ll find everything from old historical homes to brand new. There’s a big variety in style and era.” Areas like Hawk’s Nest are filled with contemporary homes, while smaller, out-of-the-way neighborhoods like South Civic have largely midcentury-style architecture. As the name suggests, Old Dublin represents the city’s earliest settlement and features 19th-century Colonials and Victorians often behind low stone fences.

Higher tax rates support programs and infrastructure upgrades
The median price for single-family homes is in the high $500,000s, above the national median in the low $400,000s and the Franklin County median in the low $300,000s. As sought-after as homes in Dublin are, they come with property tax rates that many see as high. “But you get a lot more for those taxes,” says Neil Mathias of the Mathias Team at Cutler Real Estate. “Leaf pickup programs, chipper services, sidewalk repair, new parks, bike paths—compare that to similar places like New Albany.”
Transportation planning focuses on reducing congestion
Most residents use a car to get around, but dedicated pedestrians also have options, including over 150 miles of shared-use paths. “A lot of the city’s very walkable,” says Bryce Smith, an agent with Coldwell Banker Realty. Commuters can take Interstates 70 and 270 into Columbus, which is about 15 miles away. But the city’s also very interested in keeping local traffic down, says Lindsay Weisenauer, Dublin’s Chief Communications and Public Relations Officer. “Dublin has a world-class Division of Engineering and a new Division of Transportation & Mobility,” she says. “They realigned Riverside Drive in 2016 and installed a roundabout with State Route 161. They designed it around projected traffic levels for 2050, so these divisions always work together to improve future experiences for people walking, driving and biking.”
Families move to Dublin for top-rated public schools
Dublin City Schools gets top ratings from Niche, which considers it one of the best districts in Ohio for its strong stable of teachers and college prep programs. “The school district is one of the best in the area,” says Lee. “People will move here specifically for the schools.” Many local schools also have strong athletic programs, including Dublin Jerome High School, which saw its boys soccer team win the state tournament in 2025.

Golf legends and Irish heritage make Dublin an event destination
Two events in particular bring visitors from all over the world. The first and perhaps most famous is the PGA’s Memorial Tournament. Founded and hosted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, this internationally recognized event is held every June at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. “The tournament is the best time of year,” says Weisenauer, “It’s one of the things that put Dublin on the map. Everyone gets involved, and we activate the whole city.” Summer brings the Dublin Irish Festival, the world's largest three-day Irish festival. Started in 1988, the signature event sees over 150,000 visitors every year, drawn in for a long weekend of live music, the Gaelic Games and the Irish Festival 5K race. “It’s a big deal for everyone in Dublin, no matter your culture,” says Mathias. “We all get to pretend to be Irish.”

Recreation options include boating, hiking and summer concerts
At less than 25 square miles, Dublin isn’t the largest city in Central Ohio. But that hasn’t stopped the local government from investing in over 60 public parks and recreational facilities, covering 1,500 acres of green space:
Scioto Park’s 218 acres are a favorite site for boating, fishing, hiking and summertime concerts.* Kiwanis Riverway Park had a boardwalk surrounded by woodlands and views of the Scioto River.
The Dublin Community Recreation Center has athletic courts, fitness rooms, an indoor aquatic center and hosts local shows at the Abbey Theater.
Two outdoor community pools serve the area, each equipped with water slides and zero-entry sections.
“There’s a real focus on parks and green spaces,” says Mathias. “It’s greener in Dublin.”
Dublin's Scioto Park’s 218 acres are well-loved for their boating, fishing and hiking.

Coffman Park is a 105-acre park with a historic 19th-century home, amphitheater and playground.
