DuPont neighborhood near job opportunities
Edmond Village is one of the smaller residential neighborhoods in DuPont, about 19 miles south of Tacoma. In addition to its well-kept homes, the community is zoned for a top-rated school district and is conveniently close to Interstate 5. There are also plenty of job opportunities in the area, with the DuPont Corporate Center business park nearby and the U.S. Military Joint Base Lewis-McChord less than 2 miles away. "Many folks in the neighborhood are active or retired military, and many of my friends have connections to the base,” says Dawn Smith, managing broker and owner of Home Team DuPont, who has over 20 years of real estate experience and lives in DuPont.

Single-family homes and condos from the 2000s in Edmond Village
Homes in Edmond Village are lined along wide streets with sidewalks on each side, adorned by decorative trees. Some properties lack a driveway, but back alleys provide a place to park. New traditional multi-story homes are the common housing style, with front porches and pointed roofs. These houses were built in the 2000s, span 1,500 to 2,600 square feet and cost $550,000 to $650,000. The neighborhood also has several condominium complexes and townhouses, all around 1,700 square feet and priced at about $425,000.
Only two-thirds of the neighborhood’s properties are currently lived in by their owners. “There are quite a few renters, and a lot of them are military. Sometimes military members will come back to the base, so they’ll keep their home and rent it out while they’re away,” Smith says. The neighborhood is looked after by DuPont’s Northwest Landing Residential Owners Association. The CAP Index crime score for Edmond Village is one out of 10, which is much lower than the national average of four.
