Enosburgh encapsulates rural Vermont charm
Northern Vermont’s Enosburgh is a small riverfront town whose farmhouses and quirky local businesses encapsulate rural Vermont charm. “Enosbugh is a dairy farming community in the eastern part of Franklin County,” says Phil Gerbode, real estate broker with Coldwell Banker. “It’s a very strong community, small town USA with a Vermont flavor. They’re very sports-oriented and very farming-oriented. If you’re someone who likes to be on the river, the river runs through Enosburgh.”
Older farmhouses on multiple acres
Enosburgh has entirely single-family homes, mostly farmhouses on multiple acres of land. “The inventory’s very low,” Gerbode says. “Most of the housing stock tends to be older, and there aren’t a lot of new developments. At this time, there aren’t a lot of choices in various price ranges that are available. It’s a tough purchasing environment for the buyers.” Land is sometimes available for sale, giving buyers the option to build. Recent sales prices for land range from $50,000 to $115,000, while recent sales for single-family homes range from $80,000 to $575,000.
Career and Technical Education at Enosburg High School
Students in Enosburgh can attend Enosburg Falls Elementary School, which gets a C-plus grade from Niche, and Enosburgh Falls Middle & High School, which gets a B-minus. “The high school there is the high school for a number of towns in the area,” Gerbode says. “Not all the towns have high schools, so it’s kind of a hub. Sports is a big thing there. They’ve always had good basketball and baseball teams.” Cold Hollow Career Center, the Career and Technical Education center shared by Enosburg High School and Richford High School, offers programs such as business leadership, medical careers and automotive technology.
Community recreation, kayaking the Missisquoi River and the Enosburg Falls Country Club
Enosburgh Community Recreation owns the baseball and softball fields at Dairy Center as well as the basketball court and baseball and soccer fields at Enosburgh Recreation Fields. Lincoln Park is a small green space in the town center with a pavilion. Residents can register for youth sports leagues and clinics and can rent kayaks and canoes from the city at the Flying Disc Café to paddle along the Missisquoi River. The Enosburg Falls Country Club is a public 18-hole golf course with membership options.
Local restaurants with classic Vermont quirks
Enosburgh has a few locally owned restaurants in town. The Flying Disc is a cozy coffee shop that serves smoothies, pastries and espresso-based drinks. As an added bonus, the shop sells video games, vinyl records and handmade ceramics, giving the shop a quirky, small-town Vermont vibe. Bumblebee Bistro serves American fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all made from scratch. Enosburgh House of Pizza serves pizza, pasta and sandwiches in a small dining room. The town has a Hannaford for groceries, plus Ace Hardware, Tractor Supply Co. and Dollar General for additional household needs. “Enosburgh is where people go to shop,” Gerbode says. “They’ve got supermarkets and all different kinds of shops.”
