About Enterprise, AL

City in Wiregrass Region with a history of progress

Enterprise earned the nickname “The City of Progress” in the early 1900s when it survived a boll weevil infestation by switching from farming cotton to farming peanuts, becoming the country’s largest peanut producer at the time. And while Enterprise is still a leading peanut manufacturer, the city is now a major hub of military aviation and home to a growing downtown with local shops, restaurants and a state-of-the-art recreation and aquatics center.

Midcentury ranch-style homes and new construction subdivisions

Small subdivisions center around downtown Enterprise. Most homes were built in the mid-1900s and reflect a similar ranch-style architecture. New subdivisions on the city’s northeast side are packed with Contemporary Craftsman and New Traditional homes. Townhouses from the early 2000s cluster around the east edge of Enterprise, and multi-acre lots are found along the city’s outskirts. The median sale price here is about $230,000, which falls well below the national median.

The newest development is a 70,000 square-foot rec center located a few blocks off Main Street. Local businesses on Main Street and national retailers on U.S. Route 84

Historic store fronts frame the local businesses along Main Street in downtown Enterprise. “The new Main Street program has really helped bring new local businesses to our downtown area,” says Shelia Harris, chairperson of Main Street Enterprise, "There are fine dining spots like The Rawls Restaurant and a few bars with free live music." She says the local theater group performs three nights a week at the Southern Broadway Dinner Theater. Downtown retailers range from clothing boutiques and home décor stores to specialty gift shops named after the city’s six-legged mascot. Big box stores, fast food chains and more local restaurants line the east side of U.S. Route 84.

Agent Spotlight

JoAnn Peters
(334) 686-0847
Hi I'm JoAnn and I'm all about my community, and real estate with my heart and soul. As a retail manager traveling wherever duty called for 28 years, I have lived all over Alabama. But my hometown is right here in Andalusia. Every visit home, I vowed to one day move back and pursue my dreams in real estate. After my two children graduated from college I was all too glad to leave the corporate world behind and finally settle back to my roots.
Today, I have made real estate my passion and introducing families to their new home is my main purpose. Real estate is a relationship-based business, and I strive to create relationships built on trust and confidence. Buying and selling can be over whelming and stressful. To ensure a successful experience, I will utilize my talent for guiding people through unfamiliar and emotional processes, as well as my skill and experience in understanding and explaining contracts, negotiations, working with attorneys, and remaining calm under pressure.
Homes.com is an excellent start and I encourage you to give me a call or email me.
