A suburban neighborhood that reflects Fishers' rapid growth

New Britton encompasses the northern half of rapidly expanding Fishers. To call Fishers a boomtown is an understatement. Once considered a sleepy northern Indianapolis suburb, its population was around 7,500 in 1990 and 38,000 in 2000. Fishers is now a city in its own right, with nearly 100,000 residents calling it home. New Britton is reflective of that popularity. The formerly rural area once known for its Smithsonian-affiliated living history museum is now a full-fledged suburban neighborhood. “New Britton is a very high-quality family community with great homes and high-performing schools,” says Joshua Martin, Realtor with @properties.

Conner Prairie's living history among many recreational activities

There's a multitude of recreational opportunities in the area. Conner Prairie is a 200-acre living history museum on the east bank of the White River — like Colonial Williamsburg, but with an Indiana flavor. The museum is on the former grounds of William Conner House, which is one of the oldest brick houses in Indiana. Harrison Thompson Park features soccer and baseball fields, multi-use trails and picnic and play areas. Billericay Park has a kid-friendly playground with horizontal and vertical climbing structures. The Indy Fuel Tank ice rink is also in New Britton. Pinheads Bowling Alley and Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park are additional indoor recreational centers in the neighborhood. Golfers have multiple nearby public and private courses to play, including Ironwood Golf Course and Prairie View Golf Club. The 1,900-acre Geist Reservoir sits at the southeast corner of Fishers and is a popular spot for boating, swimming, fishing and watersports.

“New Britton not only has a ton of incredible amenities inside the neighborhood, like the parks and town center, but it’s also super close to highways and interstates,” Martin says. “So, getting out of town for a weekend is easy.” Interstate 69 leads south to the I-465 loop and a 24-mile trip to downtown Indianapolis. Weekend travelers will find Cincinnati, Louisville, Chicago and Southwest Michigan all within a 3-hour drive.

Friday night lights and Conner Prairie highlights

Friday night football games at Fishers Tigers Football Field are popular with the larger community, not just students and their families.
