Bucking Horse has private community amenities, modern architecture and well-maintained green spaces. The east Fort Collins community is located around 4 miles south of Old Town. The Bucking Horse Homeowners Association maintains the neighborhood’s pool and community green areas, and residents are less than a mile from expansive public parks, the Poudre River Trail and the businesses of Jessup Farm. “The neighborhood is in a really convenient location for both shopping and recreation,” says Leila Russell, a local real estate agent with RE/MAX Alliance. “You can get to downtown Fort Collins in 10 minutes and can reach nearby bike trails even quicker. You’re also really close to Interstate 25 for travel to Denver.”

Modern, craftsman architecture and condo options

Craftsman-style homes make up the majority of the market in Bucking Horse, with houses sitting close together on small, well-kept lots. Most homes were built between 2005 and 2017 and have fenced-in back yards and attached garages. Single-family homes can go for $760,000 to $1 million, with prices increasing with square footage, lot size and recent renovations. The neighborhood also has a handful of condominium complexes on its west side, with two and three-bedroom units ranging from around $350,000 to $500,000.

A diverse array of recreation near Bucking Horse

Residents pay annual HOA dues for community maintenance and access to the neighborhood’s pool on Nancy Gray Avenue. In the summer months, the Bucking Horse Pool hosts a youth swim team and offers swimming lessons. The 65-acre Edora Park lies just west of the neighborhood and is home to a playground, picnic pavilions and facilities for baseball, tennis and disc golf. The 12-mile Spring Creek Trail winds through the north end of the park and connects to the Poudre River Trail, which spans over 40 miles alongside its namesake waterway through Fort Collins, Windsor and Greeley.

A-minus-rated public schools

Each of the neighborhood’s designated public schools boasts an A-minus overall grade from Niche, starting with Riffenburgh Elementary School. Lesher Middle School offers a variety of clubs and extracurriculars, from tennis and Rock Climbing Club to gaming and Science Olympiad. Around a mile south of Bucking Horse, Fort Collins High School has dozens of career and technical education course offerings, including principles of manufacturing, engineering drafting, game design and fashion design. The high school also has a work-based learning program where students can earn hands-on workplace experience through internships and apprenticeships with local businesses.

Farm-to-table dining, craft beer and more at Jessup Farm

Directly north of Bucking Horse’s residential streets lies the Jessup Farm Artisan Village. Originally an early 20th-century family farm, the area is now a quaint business village with local shops and restaurants. Bindle Coffee serves baked goods, smoothie bowls and espresso, while two doors down, Jessup Farm Barrel House has over a dozen craft beers on tap. The Farmhouse at Jessup Farm offers farm-to-table comfort meals, from bison short rib to fried chicken. “The Jessup Farm area keeps growing,” says Russell. “New businesses have been regularly added, like PizzaVino. It’s a really popular spot.” For groceries, there is a King Soopers nearby.

Convenient bus routes, bike-friendly streets and interstate access

Transfort operates around 20 bus routes across Fort Collins, with nearby stops on East Drake Road. The area is known for being biker-friendly, with over 200 miles of bike lanes and trails accessible from the city. Interstate 25 is a short drive east of the neighborhood and spans around 45 miles north to Cheyenne, Wyoming and roughly 60 miles south to Downtown Denver.
