Alpine air and starry nights
How does one define life in Frazier Park? Think small town living surrounded by majestic mountain views, star-filled nights and bracing alpine air. Situated in the Los Padres National Forest, the area enjoys cool summers and mild winters and offers its residents countless opportunities for hiking, camping and fishing. The mountain community’s population is less than 3,000 and its neighbors are close-knit. “Frazier Park is the main hub of all the little towns in the area. It’s where the local elementary school and the mom-and-pop grocery store are,” says Amanda Mitchell, a local Realtor who grew up in the area. “People go to Frazier Park to have their hair and nails done or go to the hardware store.”
Frazier Park’s mix of mountain homes and cabins
Architectural styles vary widely and include modular homes, log cabins, alpine chalets, Spanish-influenced and modern Craftsman. “There really is a mix of homes here. There are even two homes made of rock in the town,” says Realtor Mitchell. Expect to pay about $80,000 for a 2-bedroom, 900-square foot mobile home to around $540,000 for a 3,000 square foot modern Craftsman with 4-bedrooms. There are no sidewalks. Most residential areas in Frazier Park are zoned commercial, which allows residents to operate businesses out of their homes. While major roads in Frazier Park are paved and maintained by the county, smaller roads and private lanes tend to be graveled.
