Rural Neighborhood in Front Royal, Virginia
Warren County 22630, 22645, 22655
Surrounded by the scenic Shenandoah Valley, Cedarville Heights blends captivating natural beauty with a small-town vibe overflowing with suburban amenities.
Perched within Front Royal, the neighborhood sits on the northern entrance of the area’s emerald jewel, Shenandoah National Park – treating residents to sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This quaint, sleepy town is not only beloved for its beauty, but it’s close to acres of lush golf courses, Skyline Drive and access to miles of picturesque hiking trails. “The mountain views surrounding the area are beautiful,” says Elizabeth Lewis – Community Development & Tourism Manager for Front Royal. “It’s very close to I-66, residents are close to city comforts and staple restaurants, and it’s a great commuter spot to D.C. or Winchester.” Cedarville Heights offers single-family, ranch-style homes, colonials, split-levels and town houses. Most were built in the early 2000s, ranging from $320,000 to $750,000. However, some older models were built around the 1970s and newly constructed as recently as 2021. Higher-end homes are predominantly in the Stonewall Estates subdivision, treating residents to sprawling lots, firepits, ultimate privacy and proximity to the Sly Fox Golf Course. Homes on the lower end are in the Riverview and Highlands at Mount Vista Estates subdivisions. Most residents enjoy multi-car garages, large decks for entertaining and covered front porches. While all residents enjoy expansive lots, with the median lot size starting at 23,000 square feet, many homes have up to 6 acres of sprawling landscapes. Yards are well-kept, elegantly landscaped and accented by sugar maples and white oaks – providing shade and ultimate tranquility. With Interstate 66 and U.S. Route 340 just a short drive away, residents can easily access downtown Front Royal in 6 miles or Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive in 7 miles – well worth it for the scenery. Residents can also hop on these routes to reach Front Royal-Warren County Airport, 10 miles away, and Warren Memorial Hospital, just a 9-mile drive.
Served by the Warren County Public Schools District, local students attend A.S. Rhodes Elementary, Warren County Middle School and Warren County High School. A.S. Rhodes and Warren County Middle both earned a B-minus from Niche. The elementary school hosts monthly community dinners, provides art and science programs and free summer meals for those who need them. Earning a B-minus on Niche, Warren County High is a top STEM school offering volleyball, football and key club. “We have a great public school system and so many education options,” Lewis says. “From sports to arts and culture to a new youth center, we want to support the whole family from start to finish.”
An outdoor enthusiasts’ haven, residents have endless opportunities to immerse themselves in nature. “We’re a friendly, Blue Ridge Mountain town full of adventure,” says Lewis. “We’re a town for all seasons. While fall is our sweet spot, we’re one of those Hallmark towns at Christmas time.” A gateway to exploration, Cedarville Height’s proximity to Shenandoah National Park makes it ideal for hikers, campers and nature enthusiasts to get their fix. “Locals call it ‘Andy Guest,’ and we get millions of visitors a year that come through there,” says Lewis. With a myriad of trails to choose from, including the Appalachian Trail, which winds around Front Royal, adventurers can easily hop on any to get to cascading waterfalls, panoramic overlooks and peaceful woodlands. And for those who enjoy a little more leisurely activity, head to one of the neighborhood's four golf courses. Blue Ridge Shadows Golf Course and Front Royal Golf Course are perfect for seasoned or beginner golfers. “Blue Ridge Shadows is award-winning, and Sly Fox is a great community golf course,” says Lewis. “They’re busy all the time.”
Residents have easy access to abundant shopping and dining opportunities. Within 2 miles are two large shopping centers along I-66 and Route U.S. 340. Anchored by Walmart, Riverton Commons Shopping Center offers a McAlister’s, Anytime Fitness, salon, ALDI and Lowe’s. Also in the strip mall is Los Potrillos, an authentic Mexican restaurant known for its homemade spicy salsa and larger-than-life margaritas. On the other side of the road is Crooked Run Center, anchored by Target, along with Petco, T.G.I Fridays, Dollar Tree, Wells Fargo and more.
A scenic gem, Cedarville Heights is your mountain escape from the hustle and bustle.
