Georgetown blends rural and urban living
Georgetown’s central location lets residents enjoy a range of outdoor activities, from hiking through state forests to digging their feet into the sandy Atlantic coastline. This southern Delaware town also offers a mix of home ages and a downtown shopping and dining hub. “It’s a growing town that’s just 30 minutes from the beach,” says Beth Conaway, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty, who’s been selling homes in the area for nearly five years. Georgetown serves as the seat for Sussex County, so it's also a hub for local government jobs.
The Georgetown Family Restaurant is a well-know icon located on East Market Street.
Broadkill Beach is just a short hop from Milton and is a less-crowded option that Rehoboth and Dewey Beaches to the south.

Mix of older, traditional homes and contemporary styles
Many of the homes in the area are ranch-style houses and Cape Cods from the mid- to late-1900s, as well as contemporary-styles from the past 25 years. Houses are clustered around downtown and sit along gridded streets. Most properties have driveways, but some have only street parking. Older homes typically sell for $200,000 to $400,000, while newer houses usually go for $300,000 to $600,000.
Cape Cod homes are a popular option in the middle class city of Georgetown.

Local shops and dining spots downtown
West Market Street downtown is the beating heart of Georgetown. “There’s quite a bit of mom-and-pop shops downtown,” says Conaway. Popular restaurants include Georgetown Family Restaurant and Maudy's Hispanic Cuisine. El Mercado Market sells produce and Latin goods. Redner’s and Walmart are in the north end of Georgetown for groceries.
Much of Georgetown’s large, Hispanic population’s needs are met by El Mercado, the local headquarters for Hispanic and other international products.
Redner’s Market is a popular grocery option in Georgetown for it’s large selection with a small-town feel.

International Baccalaureate at Sussex County High
Students may start at Georgetown Elementary, which gets a B from Niche, before going to Georgetown Middle, which earns a B-plus. Sussex County High receives a B-minus and is an International Baccalaureate school and offers students the ability to graduate early.
Sussex Central High School is an above average, public school located in Georgetown, DE.
Georgetown Middle School has 885 students in grades 6-8.

Nearby sports facilities, sandy beaches
Opportunities for outdoor recreation are close by. Sports at the Beach is 3 miles east and offers over a dozen baseball diamonds, which host local youth games. Sandhill Fields, a sports facility 2 miles north, includes soccer fields and pickleball courts. Redden State Forest is 5 miles north and has a nearly 5-mile looping trail. Savannah Beach offers miles of sandy coastline less than 20 miles east.
Pickleball enthusiasts enjoy a game on one of six courts at Sandhill Fields.
Many intense but friendly basketball games happen on the courts at Sports at the Beach.

Wings & Wheels event in October
Each October, the Delaware Coastal Airport hosts the Wings & Wheels fall festival. The event has been held for over 15 years and features aircraft showcases, World War II re-enactments, food vendors and live music.
Commuting via Route 113, Route 9
Commuters can take U.S. Route 113 north 35 miles to get to Dover, and U.S. Route 9 south 30 miles to get to Salisbury. The closest hospital, TidalHealth Nanticoke, is 15 miles west. The closest airport, Salisbury Regional, is 32 miles south.
Pocomoke City residents have easy access to the Salisbury Airport, only 25 miles away.
TidalHealth Nanticoke is a major healthcare provider for people in and around Seaford.
