Well-kept suburb with convenience to Gilbert attractions
Rumored to be named after a Phoenix-based dairy founded in the 1920s, Shamrock Estates is a southern Gilbert suburb with pristine homes in an ideal location near major roads and the activity-centered Gilbert Regional Park. “This is a place for people who want to live in a nice neighborhood but don’t want to live right in the middle of a busy city,” says Roberta L. Voss, associate broker for Re/Max Professionals. The area also boasts a low 2 out of 10 CAP Index crime score and falls in one of the highest rated Arizona school districts, Chandler Unified. Residents have several walkable areas, including the 6-mile-long Queen Creek Canal, which cuts across the area, and most shopping errands can be done within a few miles of the neighborhood.
Modest properties mixed with mansions in Shamrock Estates
The asphalt-paved residential streets here are lined with sidewalks and acacia trees. Wooden benches are dotted throughout the area, and rock-landscaped front lawns are decorated with trimmed shrubbery. Voss says homes in Shamrock Estates tend to be pricier than other city neighborhoods like San Tan Ranch and Trilogy. The community is filled with a mix of single-family homes in Spanish ranch and modern traditional styles built between the early 2000s and 2010s. These properties have stucco exteriors with tan terracotta roofs and arched entryways. Many have stone privacy gates around manicured backyards with in-ground pools. Smaller properties typically range between $450,000 and $650,000, while those with more square footage are usually priced between $700,000 and $950,000. Multi-story Spanish mansions with circle driveways and almost 2-acre lots range between $1 million and $1.7 million. Most homes in Shamrock Estates sit in established subdivisions like Calle De Flores Esta, and homeowners can expect to pay up to $80 in monthly HOA fees.
Some residents in Shamrock Estates live in mansions on large lots.

Emphasis on fine arts at Casteel High
The community is zoned for the Chandler Unified School District, which is rated the best school district in the state by Niche. Arizona is also a “school choice” state, so students outside the district can register during open enrollment. Kids can start at Chandler Traditional Academy-Freedom, which covers kindergarten through sixth grade and earns an A from Niche. For grades seventh through twelfth, students move on to Casteel High, which earns an A-minus. The school was opened in the fall of 2015 and is known for its fine arts curriculum, which supports the award-winning Casteel Theater Arts program.
Walking to Rockwell Park and splashing around at Gilbert Regional
Within the neighborhood, folks can walk to Rockwell Park, a small piece of land with two basketball and sand volleyball courts. Voss says people enjoy jogging or riding bikes along the side of Queen Creek Canal near the west border. The canal stretches into the 272-acre Gilbert Regional Park, which includes a splash pad with shaded benches, pickleball courts and a pond with a fishing pier. The city announced a partnership between Gilbert Regional and Cactus Surf Park in 2021 to add 25 more acres dedicated to aquatic attractions like outdoor cabana areas and a surf lagoon. For more outdoor activity, the membership-driven 18-hole Seville Golf and Country Club is directly southeast of Shamrock Estates. This features a hilly, green course with views of the San Tan mountains in the distance and an aquatic complex that offers swimming lessons. The public Power Ranch Golf Club is also 4 miles northeast.

Hanging out at Gilbert Days in the fall
In November, residents travel to Gilbert Regional Park for the annual Gilbert Days. This two-day event starts with live musical performances, lines of food trucks and a showcase of vendors at the park, followed by a city parade downtown with over 75 decorated floats. In the summer, the park also hosts Boots in the Park, a day filled with country music performances by nationally known artists like Chris Young and Luke Combs.
Grabbing a drink at Morning Kick
Chandler Heights Village shopping mall is in the southeastern corner of Shamrock Estates, housing small salons, health clinics and popular eateries. Locally owned Morning Kick sells chorizo breakfast burritos along with lattes and specialty energy drinks. Phoenix Magazine even awarded the establishment with a Best of the Valley Reader’s Pick award in 2021 for their sought-after burritos. Nearby, the regionally-ran Blue 32 Sports Grill serves steak platters and hearty sides. After lunch, locals can head south to Fry’s Marketplace for groceries. Queen Creek Marketplace is about 7 miles east and features big box stores like Super Target and retail giants like Kohl’s and T.J. Maxx. The site also includes Harkins Theatres for Friday movie nights.

Hopping on the Loop 202 to get to Phoenix
Higley Road is a major thoroughfare on the eastern border and can be used to get to other parts of Gilbert. Phoenix is about 34 miles northwest via the Arizona 202 freeway—also known as “Loop 202”—about 7 miles north of the neighborhood. Downtown Gilbert is a 13-mile drive north. Many people drive to get around the area, but Higley Road and Shamrock Estates Road have bike lanes. Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is about 6 miles north, and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is 9 miles northeast of cities across the U.S.
Hot weather and fire risks in Shamrock Estates
The neighborhood can experience extremely hot temperatures, especially between June and August. The city recommends that homeowners use shades or drapes on their windows, limit their oven use, and utilize one of the many cooling centers in the city, including Southeast Regional Library, which is 11 miles north. Hot days can also increase wildfire risks near the southern half of the community. For outdoor fire safety, Maricopa County states that burning is prohibited between May 1st and September 30th unless used for cooking. To protect homes in case of a wildfire, Gilbert Fire and Rescue advises homeowners to devise an escape plan and test smoke alarms monthly.
