Glasgow Village is an unincorporated area in North St. Louis County, about 13 miles north of St. Louis City proper. The small community of about 4,500 people is just about as far east as travelers can venture before meeting the Mississippi River. In fact, the bridge to Illinois begins right at the village’s northernmost edge and just south of the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. “It's a small municipality. There are several subdivisions in here. Budget-conscious buyers can find budget-friendly housing,” says Rebecca Harrington, a Realtor with RE/MAX, who sells homes in the North County area and lives in the area as well. “The homes have really big yards. You can take the bus or drive and get pretty much anywhere.”
Ranch styles in Glasgow Village
The typical Glasgow Village home has two to three bedrooms, one-and-a-half to two bathrooms and a single-car garage or carport. “It’s a mixed bag, but mostly I would say the homes are ranch-style homes. They’re great for resale for people who are downsizing and who don’t want to do stairs,” Harrington says. The median price for a single-family home here is around $55,000, with homes generally selling in the $55,000 to $75,000 range.

Chain of Rocks Park is planning to open in the spring of 2024, at the edge of the Old Missouri Bridge about 1 mile outside of the village. The park will feature foot and biking access to the historic bridge, as well as an event space and open fields for people to run around. Residents also only have to travel less than 1 mile to the Mississippi River Greenway Trailhead, which hikers and bikers can take along the river.

Clean Up, Build Up is one such event intended to bring neighbors together to clean up the community park and to improve safety there. Volunteers moved overgrowth and debris. They installed motion cameras and handed out gunlocks as well. Another annual activity around these parts is visiting the sunflower fields at Columbia Bottom Conservation Area. Catch them at just the right moment and the experience is breathtaking.

Bus sops throughout Glasgow Village
Despite its proximity to an interstate highway, Interstate 270, and a major state highway, Missouri Route 367, Glasgow Village's access to those roadways is a bit of a complicated undertaking. "Your option is I-270 or Riverview Blvd," Harrington says. "That's not easily accessible, but it is commutable because there are lots of options if you don’t have a vehicle." Metro buses pass through Glasgow Village with several stops on Shepley Dr and a few others elsewhere in town. Once travelers are on the major roadways, the average commute should take from 20 to 45 minutes.
