Upscale homes and private beachfront properties in Golden Beach
Golden Beach is an upscale community offering waterfront homes on the banks of the Patuxent River. Locals can access a private beach and drive golf carts down the quaint residential streets or browse nearby retailers and restaurants in Charlotte Hall . Although this can be a popular housing market for buyers seeking riverside retreats and second homes, there is a passionate community of year-round locals who organize community events, such as the Fireworks at Dusk celebration in the summer. “Golden Beach is a nice little community with water and beach access,” says Sarah Swann, a Realtor with Baldus Real Estate Inc., who grew up in the area and has been selling real estate locally for the past eight years. “It’s minutes away from local shopping and dining areas and attracts military personnel who work at Pax River Naval Air Station about 30 miles south.”

Single-family homes with waterfront options
Popular home styles include split-levels, ramblers and Colonial Revivals, which sit along tree-lined suburban roads. Single-family homes cost between $285,000 and $550,000, varying by square footage, lot size and location. “This is a mixed community with starter, mid-life and retirement homes,” says Swann. “People choose Golden Beach for its affordability, especially military personnel who work at the local bases. Many have bought multiple lots together and put a house on one.” Waterfront homes are priced higher and often feature private docks, as well as views overlooking Indian Creek, Trent Hall Creek or the Patuxent River. Potential homebuyers need to be aware that there is a moderate flood risk for homes close to the Patuxent River.
