Picturesque small town

Whether you’re going on a wine tour or enjoying the mountain views, Gonzales will leave a lasting impression. “It’s a small town that’s showing a lot of growth,” says Angela Savage, Broker with Steinbeck Real Estate. “It’s a heavily agricultural area, but it’s close to the highway which is great for commuters and has a lot of attractions, including the wineries that bring in a lot of jobs.” Located on the northern side of Monterey County, about 16 miles from Salinas, this town has an agricultural past that dates back to before it was officially incorporated in 1947. In the present day, the community is mainly residential, with many of the amenities lined along the main thoroughfares. Gonzales has a wealth of amenities, whether it’s the beloved local eateries, proximity to outdoor spaces or the many wineries along River Road.

Spacious real estate options

No matter where residents live in Gonzales, they can walk outside their homes to picturesque mountain vistas. Savage adds, “There’s a great blend of housing options, with older homes on large lots and newer homes with up to four bedrooms. All of the homes have great affordability that you won’t find in a lot of other places in Monterey County.” Real estate options throughout town mainly consist of single-family homes that have recently sold between $430,000 and $800,000 for homes on oversized lots. Prospective residents can choose between single-story ranchers, cozy two-bedroom custom homes, and many other options.
