From ranch-style and Cape Cods to newly built contemporary homes
Residents in Granby can find ranch-styles, Cape Cods, colonials and new contemporary build homes in the community. Ranch-styles and Cape Cods sell for between $225,000 and $350,000, while larger Colonials go for between $350,000 and $450,000. The new build contemporary builds are selling for between $450,000 and $600,000, with some of the larger builds going for up to $800,000. Many homes here offer large yards with some properties sitting on nearly 4 acres of land. The town’s mix of forest and open space offers a relaxed atmosphere, and houses are spread out over 28 square miles of land.

Granby Public Schools along with The MacDuffie School
The Granby Public Schools system educates more than 700 students at its two schools, East Meadow Elementary and Granby Junior Senior High. Both schools earned a C-plus grade from Niche. Both U.S. Route 202 and Interstate 91 lead to many necessities
U.S. Route 202 rolls from east to west through Granby, and most of the town’s businesses are concentrated along it. The road provides access to the broader area and Springfield. Downtown Springfield is a 17-mile drive. Granby is a 35-mile drive to Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Bradley provides non-stop flights to 35+ destinations. The nearest hospital is Holyoke Medical Center, a 7-mile drive. There are no public transit options in Granby so residents rely on personal cars for transportation.
The 202 is the main way to get around Granby.

A 1950s dining experience at Cindy’s Drive-In
Locals stop by Cindy’s Drive-in, a 1950s diner that’s topped the best list for its hot dogs and ice cream by Springfield’s newspaper, The Republican. In warmer months patrons relax with their treats on the brightly colored picnic tables behind the eatery. Residents don’t have to rise at dawn for coffee at The Earlee Mug, but early birds will appreciate that doors open at 6:30 a.m. Daily specials, listed on a chalkboard shaped like a coffee cup, include country fried steak, chicken noodle soup, and hot dogs and beans. For groceries, residents head to Big Y World Class Market 4 miles east in South Hadley.

Trails to hike in the Mount Holyoke Range State Park
Residents often hike the Bachelor Brook Trailhead to Mount Holyoke Range State Park. If locals still have energy to burn, they can ascend Mount Norwottuck — the highest peak in the Holyoke Range — for sweeping valley views. In the center of Granby, Dufresne Park offers walking trails, a pond, picnic shelters and a dog park. Brown Ellison Park, a gathering place for the community, includes sports fields.
Dufresne Park is a unique park with an in park equestrian for horse back riding and training.
The pond in Dufresne Park is also a favorite fishing spot for residents in Granby.

From the Big E to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame
“The Big E is a big event for people here,” Crosby says. “People also enjoy going into Springfield to enjoy MGM Casino and the hall of fame.” The Big E is an annual fair that lasts and includes rides, games, and performances. It’s just an 18-mile drive from the Granby. For basketball fans, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is in Springfield and is home to more than 300 inductees and more than 40,000 square feet of basketball history. It, along with the MGM Casino, are a 15-mile drive from Granby.

Granby’s Free Public Library
Residents of Granby banded together in 1973 to start a quest to replace the town’s original library, which was built in 1917. After 40 years of hard work and fundraising, the $4.7 million Granby Free Public Library was built for its grand opening in 2013. The 12,000-square-foot library provides Granby residents with an extravagant place to grab their next novel.
