Along the main street of Gray is regional grocery store Harveys Supermarket, along with an Ingles Market and a variety of chain restaurants. The Bent Axle Neighborhood Grill harkens back to older times, converted from a gas station with an old truck from the early 1900s sitting out front and the front bumper of a car acting as the hostess stand. Local clothing stores like Ambi Rae Boutique and Bass Trading Co. sit along West Clinton Street. Big-box stores like Walmart Supercenter are found in larger cities like Macon and Milledgeville, about the same distance away, but “most people will head to Milledgeville,” Faircloth says. Milledgeville has a trolley that runs through its historical section, highlighting important buildings from the city’s time as the state capital.
