Beechcroft
Suburban Neighborhood in Greensboro, North Carolina
Guilford County 27407, 27409
Beechcroft offers both detached homes and townhouses
Most of the neighborhood’s single-family homes date to the 1970s and ‘80s and blend in seamlessly with the surrounding foliage. “It feels like the neighborhood’s been here awhile,” says Langohr. “Sometimes neighborhoods that have been around a long time can feel worn down, but this feels well-kept, with a lot of trees and greenery.” East of Stanley Road, ranchers, raised ranch-style homes, split-levels and Cape Cods line cul-de-sacs in subdivisions like Oaks West and Beechcroft, which don’t have homeowners associations. Wide streets roll beneath a canopy of trees, passing by streetlamps and well-manicured lawns. Home prices typically range from $200,000 to $350,000. West of Stanley Road, early-2000s townhouse communities with HOAs, community pools and clubhouses are more common. Prices typically range from $200,000 to $300,000, though end units can get up to about $360,000. Beechcroft’s CAP Index crime score is 6 out of 10, which is a little above the national average of 4; however, in larceny, the neighborhood scores an 8.Parks, a prominent golf course and an amusement center
The Greensboro Ice House offers year-round ice skating, as well as youth and adult hockey leagues and classes for novice skaters. Located near the intersection of Bracyridge Road and Creekwood Drive, Oaks West Park features a playground for children, swings and picnic tables. Just across Interstate 40, Hunter Hills Park features a playground for young children, a basketball court and picnic tables. Sedgefield Country Club sits 3 miles south of Beechcroft. The club’s Donald Ross-designed golf course has been the location of the Wyndham Championship on the PGA Tour since 2008 and has seen the likes of Sam Snead, Davis Love III and other golfing giants. Other club amenities include a dozen racket sports courts, a swimming pool, fitness center and restaurant. There’s also Celebration Station just north of Beechcroft, an amusement center home to miniature golf, go-karts, arcade games, batting cages and other family-friendly activities.Career prep in supply chain management at Western Guilford High
Most homes are within a 3-mile drive of Edwin A. Alderman Elementary, which receives a B-minus from Niche. Western Guilford Middle also earns a B-minus. B-rated Western Guilford offers a Signature Career Academy of Transportation, Distribution and Global Logistics, also known as TDL. As part of the Drone Technologies pathway, students learn how to build, program and fly unmanned aerial vehicles. The academy also features a forklift simulator and Skill Boss Logistics Trainer for hands-on learning. Students can become Certified Technicians in Supply Chain Automation, earn college credit and make up to $20 an hour through work-based learning opportunities with companies such as Fastenal. Guilford College, a private liberal arts institution founded by Quakers, sits less than 6 miles north of Beechcroft.Next to the Greensboro Urban Loop and Interstate 40
Interstate 73 marks Beechcroft’s southwest boundary, while Interstate 40 bookends the neighborhood to the northeast. For a few miles north of I-40, I-73 becomes Interstate 840. Interstates 73 and 840 form the bulk of the Greensboro Urban Loop, a 40-mile beltway which circles the city. Via the beltway, Piedmont Triad International Airport is about 11 miles away from most homes. Cone Health’s Wesley Long Hospital is 7 miles to the northeast. Greensboro Transit Agency bus route 1 runs up Koger and Landmark Center boulevards on the north side of the neighborhood. The bus passes through Downtown Greensboro before reaching its easternmost termination point at Guilford Technical Community College’s Greensboro campus.Between shopping centers and Four Seasons Town Centre
Sam’s Club, the Home Depot, a Walmart Supercenter and a cluster of other stores and restaurants sit northwest of the neighborhood. Viva Chicken specializes in Peruvian street food, while Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar is known for their hibachi performances. Other shopping options such as Petco and Costco sit up West Wendover Avenue. Sedgefield Crossing Shopping Center is a smaller outlet to the south on West Gate City Boulevard with a Family Dollar and local restaurants such as La Palma, known for their Dominican meals such as yaroa: mashed sweet plantain with meat and cheese. Four Seasons Town Centre, a three-story shopping mall, lies just up the road. Beyond retailers and a food court, the mall also offers a bowling alley and entertainment center.
