Within a mile of the neighborhood is Jaycee Park, an epicenter of recreational sports that’s home to Stoner-White Stadium, a ballfield built for youth baseball tournaments. Adjacent to Jaycee Park is the Spencer Love Tennis Center. With 13 outdoor clay courts, it welcomes recreational and competitive play at any level and hosts adult and junior programs that include clinics, ladders and leagues. Residents are also close to Country Park, which features the Greensboro Science Center. Just a few miles east, it’s an aquarium, zoo and museum wrapped into one educational and interactive experience that includes summer camps, afterschool programs and internships. "We offer sensory-friendly nights for our community members who may be sensitive to noise and light," says Tucker Campbell, the Science Center's community programs manager. "We turn the lights down low, and there isn't any music playing. It makes the center accessible to those who may be on the spectrum." The center also hosts fun events like Ocean Day, Shark Week and Winter Wonderlights. Local teenagers can participate in the Junior Docent Program or the Camp Assistant Teen Program. "We're always looking for volunteers," Campbell says. "It's a great way for teens to get involved."Shopping and dining at Westridge Square
Northwestern Greensboro is a shopping haven, and residents of British Woods don’t have to go far to get their errands done. In the neighborhood’s eastern corner is the Westridge Square shopping center, featuring a Sprouts Farmers Market for grocery essentials and a Kohl’s for fresh threads. There are also a few spots to enjoy a meal, like Village Tavern. Reservations are a must, as the area favorite is packed on the weekends. Diners can order anything from a shareable plate of tavern nachos to a delectable filet mignon.Buses along Battleground Avenue
British Woods is sandwiched between two major roads: Battleground Avenue and Joseph M. Bryan Boulevard. They connect the community to areas all over Greensboro, making commutes for residents rather simple. Public transportation is also readily available, with bus stops all along Battleground Avenue.
