Sedge-Town features an array of housing suitable for many. Most houses in the area are from the mid-20th century, yet a few have been constructed in the early 2000s to support the area’s rapid growth. Throughout the area, there are numerous ranchers situated on generous plots of land, many of which are just under an acre in size. These homes are immersed deep into an abundance of trees, leaving residents able to enjoy the seclusion and peace from busier nearby areas. The towering trees offer a shaded reprieve under a canopy of extended branches.Also within the area is a housing subdivision constructed in 2006. These homes are situated closely to one another and bring a feeling of suburban living to the neighborhood. Many of these homes are spacious two-story houses with garages and fenced-in backyards. The streets of the neighborhood are lined with sidewalks, making it easy to enjoy strolls on warm North Carolina evenings. The homes tucked into the quieter corners of the area tend to be priced closer to $150,000.
A place to learn
Students in the area attend Guilford County Schools, the third-largest school district in the state. Right in Sedge-Town is Sedgefield Elementary School and Smith High School. Sedgefield Elementary has an overall Niche grade of C-plus. Kids go on to attend Allen Middle School, which has an overall Niche grade of C. Teenagers attend Smith High School, which was established in 1963 and is now home to students from 44 different countries. Tucked against the excitement of West Gate City Boulevard and home to a large shopping mall, retail options are abundant in Sedge-Town. The Four Seasons Town Centre features a variety of popular retail destinations, including JCPenney and Dillard’s. Up and down West Gate City Boulevard is an array of shops, restaurants and other businesses to explore. The neighborhood is also home to a couple of grocery store options, including a Walmart Neighborhood Market and an international food market.
