Explore Lake Brandt
The Harbor is within a mile of Lake Brandt, so there are ample chances to get outside and explore. The municipal reservoir was built nearly 100 years ago and was dedicated to an early Greensboro mayor, Leon Brandt. "The lake is a major draw," says Real Estate Agent Zelma Holyfield. "People come from all over Greensboro to enjoy the lakes in this area." Locals bring kayaks to the Lake Brandt Marina and roam the lake’s 800-plus acres. The marina offers kayak, paddleboard and canoe rentals to whoever needs them. Visitors can also enjoy the water from the sidelines and stroll the surrounding trails like the Piedmont Trail. Bikers and joggers take the woodsy path following Lake Brandt’s shoreline, which eventually meets the Atlantic and Yadkin Greenway. The Greenway is another popular pathway that stretches across the water and runs nearly eight miles. Taking the trail north will lead hikers to Bur-Mil Park.
Bur-Mil Park is only a few miles from The Harbor and is another popular spot to enjoy a day outside. Bring the family on a summer day and check out the aquatic center with a large pool and fun water equipment. There’s also a playground, golf course and piers that jut into the lake. The park hosts the annual Bur-Mil Fall Festival, which features vendors, games, music and all kinds of tasty food.
