About 20 miles east of Philadelphia, Greentree is a quiet New Jersey community that lives up to its name. “It has beautiful tree-lined blocks and is convenient to major roadways,” says Day Lazala-Gordon, a sales agent with Berkshire Hathaway Fox & Roach Realtors who has worked here for four years. “The proximity to Philadelphia, the great schools and our walking trails are all big draws.” Greentree features a mix of late 20th-century homes alongside highways, making it easy to get around the Delaware Valley. Traffic can be heavy in the area, but turning off the main avenues is like flipping a switch from hectic rush hour to tranquil suburbia.
A variety of housing is available is southern New Jersey
Greentree has a variety of homes, most of which were built from the 1960s to the ‘80s. Buyers can find split-level styles in some parts of the community while others feature elaborate Colonial Revivals and New Traditional homes. Properties are often close together, but the front and backyards can be spacious, sometimes with room for an in-ground pool. Attached garages are common. While most streets have some trees, parts of the community — like Wexford Drive — have dense foliage providing plenty of shade over the homes. The median housing price in Greentree is around $521,000.
Walking, running and biking are popular activities on local trails
Greentree has several recreation sites, including a vast network of trails. The Kresson Trails consist of seven wooded paths for mountain biking, walking, trail running and observing nature. Visitors will trek through woodlands, meadows and streams as they explore the area. The Old Orchard Trails on Thornhill Road are a smaller collection of wooded paths with a playground near the parking lot. The Katz JCC offers fitness, swimming, childcare, and various youth camps and programs.
State highways are home to a broad range of shopping and dining
New Jersey Routes 70 and 73 are home to many shops and restaurants. “There’s a lot of chain restaurants. You name it, we have it. A very popular one that’s really close to Greentree is Redstone American Grill. And Brio is close,” Lazala-Gordon says. Redstone is known for its steak and seafood dishes, while Brio Italian Grille serves a Tuscan-inspired menu. The Promenade at Sagemore is an outdoor mall with stores like Talbots, Loft and Jos. A. Bank. Big-box stores nearby include Kohl’s, T.J. Maxx and Walmart. Groceries are available at Trader Joe’s or Sprouts Farmers Market. Springdale Farm Market is a family-owned roadside stand that has been selling local produce for over 75 years and is the only farm left in Cherry Hill Township.
Cherry Hill schools provide a well-rounded education
Cherry Hill Public Schools serves the community, with several elementary schools in the area. The district receives an A-minus rating from Niche, the second-highest in Camden County. Cherry Hill High School East gets an A and is known for its successful robotics club, which frequently competes at the Vex World Championships and won in 2020. Students can enroll in the Research in Science class, in which they develop science experiments and enter them into local, regional and national fairs. The school’s newspaper is rated as one of the best in the country by the National Scholastic Press Association.
Multiple highways make it easy to get around the Delaware Valley
In addition to Routes 70 and 73, Interstate 295 and the New Jersey Turnpike are close to Greentree. Philadelphia is about 18 miles west of the community via I-295 and I-676. Residents can experience heavy traffic on Route 70, especially during rush hour. Bus route 406 of NJ Transit has stops on Route 70 and some smaller roads, connecting riders to Camden and Philadelphia.
