Established neighborhood close to Langley and recreation
Willow Oaks is an established suburb in Hampton that is voted as one of the best neighborhoods in the city. The history of Willow Oaks is reflected in its long-standing architecture and community-oriented atmosphere. Aside from its peaceful ambiance, the biggest draw to living in Willow Oaks is its proximity to Langley Air Force Base and the Grandview Nature Preserve. “It’s an excellent location for work and recreation,” says Chris Pray, a Realtor with Abbitt Realty Company, who’s been selling homes on the peninsula for over 25 years.
Gosnold's Hope Park, Grandview Nature Preserve
Gosnold’s Hope Park, the second largest in Hampton, offers a boat ramp, nine picnic areas, a football field, baseball diamonds and a soccer field. Down Shelby Avenue is a BMX track, and the fenced-in areas at Ridgeway Park and Bark Park are perfect for letting your furry friend run off their leash. Four miles north is Grandview Nature Preserve with 578 acres of marshes, woodlands and beaches. King Street Linear Park follows the main road in and out of Willow Oaks, creating a pedestrian path to safely walk or bike to nearby shops.
Gosnold's Hope Park has a variety of outdoor athletic fields.
The Hampton BMX track is located at Gosnold's Hope Park.

20th-century homes on the water
20th-century home styles range from $250,000 to $400,000. Residences include ranch-style houses with mature pine trees, colonials featuring stately columns and split-level homes with two-car garages. Sidewalks create walkability throughout the neighborhood, and streetlights can be found throughout. Some properties backed up to the river offer serene views and a personal fishing pier. “Houses are meticulously maintained in this community, you’ll see neighbors are often working in their yards,” says Pray. The Willow Oaks Homeowners Association manages the community and hosts yearly events, including a spring fling in March and a fall festival in October.

Shopping and local restaurants like Smitty’s
Harris Teeter is close by for essentials, and Hampton Oriental Market specializes in Asian cuisine, fresh meats and seafood. Smitty’s Better Burger has been serving classic American burgers and nostalgia since 1956. King Street Diner offers a large breakfast and lunch menu and Krung Thai Street Grill has fresh curry and stir-fries.
King Street connects Langley to downtown
While some retailers and parks are within walking distance, most people will still want a car to access the rest of Hampton. King Street connects Willow Oaks to Langley Air Force Base and Downtown Hampton and holds several bus stops with daily service.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
