Rebuilding and renewing The Haysville Historic District
The Haysville Historic District, infamously ravaged by an F4 tornado in 1999, was restored to become what is now Haysville Historic Park. Here is where many community events are often held, such as movie nights, holiday rituals and more. Bell expands on this: “Every year Haysville puts on a big fall festival and a village Christmas celebration. We do lots of smaller events, too. There’s also Living History Rendezvous, where people from as far away from Florida and Minnesota come to reenact authentic nineteenth century living. They camp and perform demonstrations. People learn a lot about that time they might not have known before,” Bell says.
