Hayward’s booming master-planned community

Eden Shores is one of Hayward’s most recently developed neighborhoods. Built in 2013 on reclaimed marshlands, this neighborhood is known for its clean and well-maintained residential streetscapes, updated housing offerings and convenient location to Bay area attractions. “We offer some exquisite modern homes in an area that’s becoming more and more popular for people in the Bay Area,” says Eden Shores Community Manager Lydia Zuñiga. “We’re close to major business areas, great schools, great parks – it’s a very well-rounded place.” These attractive suburban qualities, along with the neighborhood’s strong sense of community, keep the real estate market in Eden Shores steadily growing. “Eden Shores is huge, and people want to be here because it’s centralized to everything,” says Rahul Puri, a realtor of 19 years and former longtime neighborhood resident. “It has been a hidden secret that not many people know about, but now in the past few years, it has truly flourished.”

Well-maintained streets and multiple subdivisions

Eden Shores’ residential landscape is broken into three main subdivisions called the Cape, the Bay and the Breakers, with a mix of one-story and two-story single-family homes. Outside of this main community, connected by a bridge, are a few newer residential sections that feature a mix of condos and townhouses. The neighborhood’s highly well-maintained streets are wide with narrow sidewalks, populated with a few palm trees and quaint lamp posts. The most common architectural styles are Spanish Mediterranean with stucco roofs and traditional-transitional properties. Townhouses typically range from $850,000 to $950,000, while single-family homes range from $1.2 million to $2.3 million for larger homes on bigger lots.

Neighborhood get-togethers at the clubhouse

The Eden Shores community is very active and enjoys numerous social get-togethers throughout the year. “It’s very kid-friendly, and there are always neighborhood events happening,” Puri says. “Around times like Easter and Halloween, it gets packed. A lot of people will go to each other’s homes, and they’ll do all of these themed events, so it’s very fun.” One of the biggest events is the Eden Shores Fourth of July Celebration. Neighbors set up food and beverage stations outside of the HOA clubhouse, while families bike around with festive streamers before enjoying some splash time at the community pool. Eden Shores’ annual Easter Egg Hunt is another big hit, with a big candy-filed egg hunt out on the neighborhood’s open green lawn and photos with the Easter Bunny. In December, the Community Holiday Party brings neighbors together with holiday-themed kid’s activities, visits from Santa and festive local food and drinks. On a more weekly basis, residents can take part in social clubs for recreational activities like line dancing and table tennis.
