A collection of small villages west of Houston
Though a swanky Houston suburb, Hedwig Village is developing more townhomes and condos, making its great schools and restaurants more accessible than its large palatial homes suggest. The neighborhood's tree-lined streets and massive horseshoe driveways befit its many Mediterranean and colonial revival-style mansions. Made of five subdivisions—or villages—and boasting its own fire and police departments, Hedwig is a community of people happy to have a quiet escape from high-excitement Houston life. “A lot of the neighbor’s kids play with each other,” says Marnie Greenwood, broker associate at Compass RE Texas. “It’s one of the hidden pocket villages that people may not consider because they first think of bigger villages.”
Village Fire Station is close by for quick service requests in Hedwig.

Condos and mansions, but not much in between
Homes in Hedwig may come in various styles, but the characteristic common to many is size. Lawns are luscious green and the neighborhood streets are lined with homes of 5,000 square feet or more. While these larger homes typically sell for more than $1 million, one-bedroom condos in the area start at $125,000, offering residents a more affordable option. Many of the homes are newer construction, built in the last half of the twentieth century or later, and styles can range from newly constructed four-bedroom modern farmhouses to six-bedroom colonial revival-style mansions.
