Hesperia Palisades
Bear Valley Road has an array of shopping and dining
A series of shopping developments dot Bear Valley Road to the north, home to retail chains like Target and Burlington. Residents can pick up groceries from Aldi or stop by the High Desert Farmers Market for fresh goods. Desert Valley Hospital and various nationally known and locally owned restaurants offer a range of cuisines. Down Home Grill serves American-style grub and is a favorite among locals. “I’ve been there several times,” Vedder says. “It’s a popular place, and the food is great.” The Mall of Victor Valley is a 5-mile trip west and houses more than 120 retailers. “It’s the place everyone in the city goes to when they want to do a day of shopping,” Vedder says.Roller skating, golfing and riverside recreation are nearby
Access to Victorville Mojave Riverwalk is directly north, off Mojave Fish Hatchery Road. The multiuse pathway provides hikers and bicyclists sweeping views of the Mojave River, which fills following heavy rains. Mojave Narrows Regional Park, 4 miles north, carves space for further natural immersion. The park's hiking trails, stocked fishing lake and aquatic playground are all available for a visitor entrance fee of $8 daily. Locals can enjoy an afternoon at the 27-hole Ashwood Golf Course, 3 miles away, or roller skate at Power Play Center just south of the neighborhood.Spanish ranch-style homes define the community's housing style
Hesperia Palisades' residential streets stretch from the Mojave River toward the east to an industrial sector directly west. Late 20th-century ranch-style homes make up the bulk of the neighborhood, keeping the horizon open for views of the neighboring San Bernardino and San Gabriel mountain ranges. Many homes feature Spanish architectural influences and have fenced-in front yards with neat landscaping. Half-acre lots are the standard here, allowing space for RV parking and in-ground pools. Prices range from $385,000 to $500,000, depending on size and condition.Students attend Hesperia Unified School District and Victor Valley College
Hesperia Unified School District serves the community. Local kids attend Juniper Elementary School and Ranchero Middle School, which both maintain a C rating on Niche. They move on to B-plus-rated Sultana High School. In late April, the district hosts its annual iExpo, a showcase and competition for passion projects. Categories range from robotics to debate to short films. On the other side of Bear Valley Road, Victor Valley College offers associate degrees and certificates. “It’s a big establishment for Hesperia, and a lot of local students enroll there,” Vedder says.Interstate 15 is close, and Victor Valley Transit Authority buses serve the west side
Hesperia Palisades sits 8 miles west of State Route 18 and 5 miles east of Interstate 15. The latter connects residents to neighboring cities to the north and San Bernardino, 40 miles south. Victor Valley Transit Authority offers bus stops along I Avenue, linking riders to the amenities of greater Hesperia.
