North Star Ranch
From Main Street eats to The Mall of Victor Valley Shopping
Main Street borders to the south and stretches 2 miles east to downtown Hesperia. Shopping developments dot the corridor, granting those living on the south end quick access to Target, Walmart Supercenter and several other big-box stores. The street is also home to grocery stores like Aldi and a mix of chain and locally owned restaurants. “Katsunori Sushi is a famous sushi place here and is a hot spot among the younger crowd,” Vedder says. “Bangkok Broiler just opened downtown, and the food there is really good.” He also notes the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Interstate 15 just north as the city’s hub for shopping. These developments feature a similar collection of well-known retailers and eateries alongside The Mall of Victor Valley, a staple of the area since 1987.Residents spend time outdoors at city parks
Youth baseball and softball players practice in the neighborhood at Hesperia Community Park on Datura Road. The city’s park and recreation department also hosts adult softball leagues on its pair of diamonds. Folks also spend time outdoors at Hesperia Civic Plaza Park, 3 miles east. “It’s the most popular park in the city,” Vedder says. It is common to spot visitors strolling its paved trail or picnicking and playing games across its open greenspace. The park's plaza hosts the Hesperia Community Farmers Market every Saturday afternoon. The neighboring Civic Plaza 12 Cinema offers an escape from the summer heat with showings of the latest releases.Ranch and new traditional-style homes
Patches of sandy desert terrain separate the neighborhood’s residential pockets. Each presents slightly different aesthetics and features, but ranch and new traditional-style homes built from the late 1980s into the 2020s appear throughout. Almost all are absent of a homeowners association, aside from Hesperia Green Estates, which comes with amenities like private tennis courts and a community pool. Homebuyers can expect a price range from $360,000 to just under $600,000 for a larger, recently built home. A handful of apartment complexes appear on the neighborhood’s southeastern side, including The Villas at Hesperia, a 55-plus community. The local district offers three schools in the neighborhood
Hesperia Unified School District serves North Star Ranch and offers school choice. Neighborhood schools include Maple Elementary, which maintains a C on Niche, B-minus-rated Topaz Preparatory School, a kindergarten through grade six charter school, and B-plus-rated Hesperia High. Middle school students enroll at C-rated Hesperia Junior High, 2 miles east of the community. The school’s website includes a live feed, which keeps guardians updated on student activities, special events and other relevant information.Interstate 15 makes North Star Ranch commuter-friendly
With Interstate 15 bordering to the west, residents have straight-shot commutes to Victorville 9 miles north. The throughway also connects to San Bernadino 33 miles south, with the help of Interstate 215. Victor Valley Transit Authority services bus stops on Maple and Cottonwood avenues, linking the community to greater Hesperia. A stop is also available in front of The Villas at Hesperia.
